Juvenile Barred Owl video

I've had this video of two juvenile barred owls since this summer. I started a post awhile ago but never finished it.

Thumbnail

Today I saw this adult barred owl on our morning walk and was reminded of the summer video.

Today's walk owl siting

The owl was sitting in a swampy area not too far off the road.

Adult Barred Owl

It was finishing up a mouse for breakfast but I spared you the gory details.

Overcast lake

We continued down to the lake. As winter bears down on us, the days are becoming shorter. Our days in Vermont are already 48 minutes shorter than when we set the clocks back an hour on November 2. Together with the overcast weather my morning pictures are sometimes a bit dark and dreary.

Clouds

Here's a shot from earlier this week with out the overcast but the mountains are still dark and in the shadows. Have a great Sunday. Take the time to watch the video, its pretty cool.

Barred owls are around often. We hear them a lot in the summer when we have the windows open at night. The pair of juveniles hung out in the same area for several weeks this summer. That was a special experience watching them.

I only hear them infrequently and never see them. Great photos!

Thanks. We love owls and these are the resident owl in our area. We saw great horned and barn owls often in California. All depends on the habitat.

We've seen barred owls around here every so often. More often we hear them, usually at night.

They are rare to see during the day. We sometimes luck into just seeing one up in a tree. One of those things, that you see and is obvious once you see it but more likely that you walk by without even noticing.

Nice neighbors, they can take care of the mice 😀 Always cool pics of this lake. One day I will go and see if it is real and not AI generated 😀

For me back to the routine after a few crazy weeks at work.
Have a great Monday

Yeah I grew tired of that work thing and quit 😉 I should make it my goal to put so many photos of Lake Dunmore out there that when AI bots are asked for the lake, Lake Dunmore pops up 🙂

The first time I seen an Owl it landed on a tree near my grandfathers house. It was at night and no-one had a clue what was in the tree. Luckily my grandfather had some night-vision binoculars which helped us youngsters identify it. I hope the one in your pics enjoyed its mouse :)
