Baby Common Mergansers #wednesdaywalk

A mother Common Merganser "walked" along with me on my #wednesdaywalk today πŸ™‚ Three of her babies refused to walk and had to be carried lol

Happy #wednesdaywalk hosted by @tattoodjay. Take some time and get out there for a walk of your own ✌️

Awwwww! So cute! I haven't seen many baby ducks or geese this year. Might have something to do with the river being in flood stage and the mom's keeping the babies in the backwaters.

We have a nesting pair of loons on the lake too πŸ™‚ but no babies yet this year from them

I'm excited about the Heron rookery that is not on my property, but is only a very short distance up river. Wish we had loons... Instead we have too many people.

I visited a heron rookery once near Sacramento, California. Very cool πŸ‘ I was surprised loons live around here. I didn't think we were far enough north but there are several mating pairs at the area lakes.

When I was a kid there were loons here. No longer.
The rookery photos were taken by my neighbor from her kayak.

Wow, they have nice coloring for little ducklings. The waves really crash them around lol.

Interesting colors. We had hooded mergansers in California that were much more colorful than the common ones here. But I never saw any of their babies.

Yeah I think they nest much farther north, maybe in Seattle or even Alaska.
