Barred Owl

Visitor

We had a nice visit from a barred owl yesterday evening. Barred owls are pretty common in our area. You hear them often. And occasionally see them.

Barred owl

This owl was in our backyard on a skinny, bare tree in the middle of a swampy area. It was the golden hour, you can see the orange glow on the tree above the owl. The owl was in the shadow of our house avoiding the bright light.

Hiding

Barred owls are sometimes called human curious at least from a distance. They can also be territorial especially around nesting time.

What good shots there are here mate! It is a good composition, the diver on the naked tree and also during the golden hour 👌🏻 Have a great day @steven-patrick!

Thanks we have a Cannon 75-300mm zoom that we have had for many years. Actually bought it for a old Cannon camera that used film we were using at the time 🙂

I really miss such a long lens. I'm getting ready to buy 100 400 but it's a bit expensive.

Very cool! We have them around here, often hear them calling but seldom see them. Loved your first shot.
