The Fragility Of Life
I would love to say that since the beginning of this year, life in my country has been one rollercoaster after another but that would be me downplaying the reality of things. Since the year I was born and even the years before I was born, life in my country has been one rollercoaster after another and another and just when I'd think that we the citizens would finally get a break from all the rollercoasting, another rollercoaster would hit.
For a while now, there have been many acts of violence going on in the country which the government has failed to work on, and we all know that it's not because they cannot, but mainly because it actually benefits them and even though these violent acts got the attention of international bodies and the power nations in the world calling for quick action to be taken by the government of my country, it seems to have only escalated the problem.
The disease is spreading and those who have the cure are not doing what they should do and the reason for my musings this afternoon is the attitude of the masses towards the whole situation. So far, people have been trying to make light of the situation by cracking jokes about it. The number of memes that I have come across on the internet these past few days alone all talking about the same issue that is currently running around unchecked is just mind-blowing.
Yes, it may be funny, dark humor and all but only when the only real experience one has had with real violence and slaughter is through the screen of a phone and I am pretty sure that doesn't really capture the true horrible nature and terror of what is currently going on in certain parts of the country.
I was taking a walk when I looked up and saw how beautifully the clouds arranged themselves around the sun and I was lucky enough to capture the exact moment the rays of sunlight began to peek behind the clouds. It was so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes. The day was calm and quiet, a very normal afternoon and while walking I began to imagine myself in a situation where we'd all be going about with our lives without fear when suddenly everyone within reach would suddenly be attacked and the once beautiful and peaceful afternoon would turn into a bloody one where lives would be lost, headlines would be made and talks would be had and eventually, it'll all silently fade away.

And all for what? Politics?
It makes me really realize just how fragile life is and how easily it can be shut down especially by people that believe they have the power to do so, like blowing out a candle and that would be the end. I thought about how beautiful nature is, the trees, the flowers and most especially the sky on any day, rainy or sunny and I can't stop thinking about those who were prevented from basking in nature like I was, those who were going about their lives thinking about the next big thing, dreams crushed before even being born and yet it seems like the long hand of justice is not long enough to do the right thing for the souls lost to propaganda.
”When will it end?”
I asked myself as the clouds began to disperse and the full light of the sun came into view, blinding my vision for a moment. Looking at the light above and wondering if there is truly a light at the end of the tunnel for the masses.
No one deserves this and it's not really a bad time to wish to be a bird and live amongst the clouds for a while.
