Patience

We have all been in a situation where we have had to choose between the devil and the deep blue sea and we all know that making the right decision in such a situation has never been an easy task.

Every day in life, we are met with different choices with no other option but to make a decision. From what we get to eat to the types of clothes we wear and even down to interpersonal relationships and shopping for groceries in the market, we all have to make final decisions or else, there will be no going forward in life.

Personally, I am the type of individual that likes to take her time when doing things. Now, I have come to understand that for a lot of people it might seem like my decision making process is quite slower than the rest of the human population but I have come to appreciate it instead of seeing it as a problem. We have always been told to trust our gut feeling because at the end of the day, our gut never lies. Well, my guy always tells me to take my time when making decisions in order to prevent future setbacks that would be a direct result of the decisions that I make in the present because what goes round eventually comes around.

I say that I like to take my time while doing things because I do not like to rush or be rushed. Taking my time to do things doesn't necessarily mean that one is slow, instead it means that I prefer to weigh all of my options before making a final decision which might eventually make or mar me. Now, I have also been told that weighing all of my options for any decision that I have to make is actually me overthinking things and that I am supposed to trust the process, go with the flow, see where life takes me and enjoy the journey along the way.

I have tried that. And I had regrets after. And as usual, I should have just listened to my gut.

I like to take my time to think things through and I try my best to avoid people that enjoy making hasty decisions with the popular cliche saying that you only live once which I feel is always used in the wrong situations. Yes, we only live once which is more reason we should me more conscious about the actions we take because every little action from shopping for groceries and making world changing decisions, all affect our lives in the future and there is nothing we can do to prevent the consequences of our actions, good or bad because the way life is, such repercussions only hit us when we least expect it and that is just the irony of it all.

Seeing as the future is uncertain, I still prefer to be in the loop somehow so as to be able to predict to an extent what the outcome of my decision will be, hence the weighing of every possible option related to the current dilemma.

When I make major decisions that will no doubt have a direct effect on my future, I tend to be extra careful and one thing I always do is to seek advice from more experienced people who have been in the same situation as me at one point in their lives. Their experiences will give me insight and will help me to weigh my options better. I also carry out research to see exactly what I am up against as we can never go wrong with research, it is very important to always do your research. Carrying out research will help me have more knowledge about my options and I'll have more information about what I am up against.

Having done all that, I am going to weigh each option according to how it'll affect me personally. I imagine myself in each scenario, predicting the outcome to see what outcome will suit me best. This way, I can immerse myself in the situation and know exactly how I tend to benefit or lose at the end of the day.

Also, while making a decision, I never finish with only one final decision, no. I always have a final decision, and a backup plan in case life has other plans for me and things do not eventually turn out as expected and I will need to implement a plan B instead of giving up totally and ruining my future. Having a backup plan has always saved me in trying times and that is why it is very important to take your time when making any decision because at the end of the day, if the hasty decision did not yield the desired result, the consequences will be dire.

Why rush into things and face dire consequences when you can take your time and reap the benefits of patience?

I agree with you, not rushing into any decision we make gives us the time to evaluate and make the right choices.
