Calculating things in miles and feet/sec is just so complex. There's a reason most of the world went metric.

Moving at 500mph in water has to present some other challenges. The equivalent of a sonic boom ought to happen at much lower speed.

I was shocked when I went to Scotland that the road signs are in MPH. I was trying to convert from KPH in my head until a local told me that they use miles on their signs.
