Holy Lego Bricks Batman!

Yes, I know that's the wrong catchphrase for this version, but I grew up watching the camp Adam West Batman show.

Box

I had this model as a gift. It is based on the Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson movie directed by Tim Burton. It was a fairly simple, but fun build.

Bare bones

As usual I put the pieces on a baking tray to avoid losing them, but I need a lighter coloured one as all those black parts are hard to see. As with my recent Star Wars model there is a lot of colour that gets hidden when it is completed.

Half way

After two of the four bags I had the basic chassis. There are some gears to make the flame at the rear spin as the wheels turn.

Body building

By the end of the third bag the bodywork is taking shape. That hides most of the connecting bumps. There are a lot of special parts, as usual. I thought there was one missing and I worked around it, but it turned up later as it was stuck to the underside.

Finished

I did this over a couple of evenings, but you could build it in an hour or so. You get the Joker and Batman minifigures.

Fire!

When you turn the knob on the side a couple of pieces come off as the machine guns pop up.

More fire

At the rear there is storage for the various weapons.

In the driving seat

Batman fits nicely inside.

You can see the original here and I think they got this model pretty close. It does not have the 'shields' option.

Spares

There are always some parts left over, but I think I did it all correctly.

The box says this is for ages from 8 and I think that is about right. I would have loved it at that age and I like it now too. As with Star Wars it has some nostalgia value for me.

To the Batcave!

That looks pretty sick man! Also, is it the Tim Burton Batman where Arnie plays Mr. Freeze, and Jim Carey is the Riddler? I had a few of the films on VHS back in the day, but haven't watched the films in so long.

I don't think it was this one @killerwot I believe Arnie as Freeze was in Batman and Robin, and Jim Carrey as Riddler was in Batman Forever...both by Joel Schumacher.

I do agree that the old movies all do seem to merge one into another :) The Tim Burton ones were darker and quieter. I liked this first one with Jack Nicholson. Was not a fan of second one. Hated batman and robin but loved Batman Forever :)

I've not seen this one in a while, but I like Tim Burton's movies. It just seems the models I get are a bit monochrome outside. I need something with more colour.

Lego is never wrong, if you have some left over parts it mean you forgot them somewhere, but who cares the car still looks amazing

I disagree. I've had several kits with extra parts and I follow the instructions carefully.

I actually wish I knew how to build lego
Kids do it in my class and I usually try to learn from them that way

You just have to follow instructions and it's only pictures. If kids can do it then so can you.

Love this batmobile. And the lego build too. Such smaller builds do seem better as it is easier to showcase them.

I keep looking at these and am tempted to buy one or a similar kit. A colleague got one of the big sets for Christmas. We never grow out of LEGO!!

They are not cheap. My son has some huge kits that will take a while to build. I'm not sure where he will put them.

That’s true and storing such large creations too can become a challenge!

Some of the latter films have got too serious. That one was fun.

Yeah they have. They got too caught up in the gritty dark Knight malarkey Whitley plain forgetting that the earliest one managed to combine both sides

I grew up with the Adam West version, too. I remember being able to see the actual bat mobile on display. I don't even remember where I saw it, but the excitement of seeing it probably overtook everything else!

We have a station that shows this old TV series, so every so often my husband and I will watch one of them. Same bat time, same bat station...

That's cool. I think the new movies could do with some WHAM KAPOW captions.

Nice models. I have a couple of Star Wars models and my son has lots. He has a big Millennium Falcon still to build. I grew up with the original movies, so I still have a fondness for this stuff.
