Follow Friday: Views are News
The News
Not too much happening on the prices front this week. I would love to see $HIVE break out, but that will depend on some decent trading and we need some publicity to drive that.
You can now get the @threespeak app from the Play Store for your Android device. This simplifies getting your videos online.
Work is going on with SportsTalkSocial to make the community work better.
Friday Follows
- @demotruk has set up @eyesonhive with a contest for the posts with the most views. If you can drive traffic to a post you could earn something.
- @golem.overlord is a new game on Hive that I have yet to check out. It looks like you need to pay something to get set up.
- @bboxonhive is a British nature photographer with some great shots who just joined Hive
- @bozz did a good post on people he follows. It also includes some he misses that have not posted in a while. I would include @katharsisdrill in that list.
Get Communal
I keep saying that Hive communities are a great way to find your audience. Here are some I like.
- Programming & Dev is where people share their programming projects, lessons and tips. If you want to learn more then this is a good place to start.
- Toys on Hive is a popular place for those who remember their own playthings, or maybe are still into them.
- Hive Statistics is where you can find out how various aspects of Hive are doing. The open nature of the platform means anyone can access the data to generate charts.
Hive Sites
I am looking to share Hive-related sites from my bookmark collection that others may find useful or interesting.
- Downvotes are always a controversial subject and this site shows who gives or gets them. It looks like around 2/3 of them are directed at the account that is used to stablise $HBD. The rest make a tiny dent in the rewards that get distributed.
- Hive Projects lists many of the projects that are being built on this platform.
- Hivesearcher is a search engine from the Ecency team.
The End
We will soon be half way through this year. Are you hitting your Hive goals? I think everyone should aim to bring at least one more person to Hive. That person is likely to need mentoring, so it is a commitment, but both sides can benefit from that.
If you are doing #FollowFriday posts or something similar then please let me know. I just use the tag and lay no claim to owning it.

Thanks for sharing those communities. I am going to check a couple of them out. There are starting to be so many that it is hard to sort through them all. I think part of the reason the HBD stabilizer account is being targeted so much is because a lot of whales that were getting retaliatory downvotes have moved their votes to that account. It protects the smaller users from being collateral damage.
I can't keep track of communities, but if people post about them then I may notice.
I suspect some people don't like how the HBD account soaks up so much of the rewards, but then reasons for DVs can vary. I think it's important that DVs are much more expensive than UVs, so the damage is limited.
I think it would be cool if you could get some kind of alert when a new post is posted in a community. I wonder if FRIDAY does that. I might have to check that out.
I have seen mentions of FRIDAY, but I don't know much about it. We could do with more tools for communities and better notifications generally.
Do you remember GINA? FRIDAY is basically the new GINA.
I never used GINA. I don't want to be overwhelmed with notifications.
You monitor a tag or word on FRIDAY, but not if something is posted in a community AFAIK
Okay thanks. That is a bummer. I would like to follow the Whisky community closer, but I forget to check it most of the time.
If you follow whisky and whiskey that should work. I follow toilet for my Loo Loo Community 😁
Thanks, I'll check it out!
Loo loo community?!!
what??? You never heard of my infamous Loo Loo Community https://peakd.com/c/hive-165962/created 😁
Err nope! Hehe
It’s funny because we spotted the little male and female signs in our hotel last week and they looked like they were doing the Charleston, it was the way their hands were portrayed!
What? Where is Friday? Is it an app?
FRIDAY is a bot on Discord, and it sends you all sorts of useful information depending on what you select. Here's the invite to their Discord server if you want to register for the service

Ah I see, I might give it a go. Thanks.
Brilliant, thanks for those links, Steve! 👍
Thanks for the shout out for Toys on Hive Steve, I need to find time to bring my communities back to life.
The site for the Downvote is interesting, will have to bookmark that for future reference. Thanks
I love all the stats you can see about Hive. We have great tools available to us.

I really want to see Hive distance itself from that other coin beginning with the letter S!
That other coin can just f*ck right off. Someone is propping it up as it has no real value. We should be ready to take some refugees when it collapses. Some were not even around for the fork and were mis-sold it.
Yeah propping it up - I was chatting to a guy in the coworking space whose just got into crypto, talking about SquidGro or something - set up by one of the T20 BTC holders who is apparently worth $3BN.
We have to remember that are those people in crypto with so much money who can just prop up pretty much any coin they choose outside of the T200 like Steem for many years to come, until they get bored.
That's possibly all it is!
Doesn't stop it being annoying!
Well, mildly irritating at least!
Well there's plenty of reasons to buy into $HIVE, even if it's just to convert some to HBD for savings.
I agree, it's annoying that the Steem price is tracking it with so much less utility!
Looking forward to iOS Threespeak app.
Thanks for sharing all these resources, I'm sure it will help many to gain some knowledge about hive and the projects on hive.
good work keeping this up!
I’m eagerly awaiting the 3speak app for iOS. They’re just getting it signed off with Apple. Let us know how you get on with the Android version in the meantime. Big game changer that is.
