Follow Friday: Roar!

The News

People were getting excited this week as the $LEO price shot up. You can see it looking to overtake $TRON (yuck) in orange.

Prices

I did not have $LEO on the chart before as I could not find it on Coingecko. There is something called LEO, but that is different and much bigger. I saw that the LeoFinance wallet said it was getting the price from there and @khaleelkazi confirmed it is actually listed as $BLEO on there.

BLEO

Talking of @leofinance, their site has had some major updates this week with improved notifications and listing of posts. It is not just limited to seeing the finance posts now.

Friday Follows

  • I have been enjoying lots of drumming posts from @giampaolo19 who is experimenting with effects. I love seeing what audio setup people have and I created a community dedicated to that.
  • I love seeing Hivers collaborate on projects. Poet @raj808 and @nickyhavey did that on a spoken word piece that was performed at a poetry evening.
  • I also think people should be free to criticise Hive. @killerwot did that in this post. I agree that marketing is a weak point. We really should have far more users by now, but what can we do to improve that?
  • I read about the wedding of @noemilunastorta from her mother @silviabeneforti, but she has done her own post about some of the celebrations. Congratulations!

These people get a share of the post rewards.

The Doghouse

Last week I wrote about the Leo Discord getting taken over to promote a phishing scheme. This shows that scammers are taking notice of this platform. I saw another sign with a couple of Leo Threads from this account.

Spam

This looks like some fake job site that I am not going to click on. If it were that easy to make lots of money with 'no prior experience or skills' then we would all be doing it. If there is a job then it may be illegal. That account has zero HP, so will soon run out of resource credits and may find its reputation sent negative. Of course they can set up more accounts, but without HP they cannot do much. That is part of the Hive defence measures. As I understand it if the blockchain gets really busy then the cost of transactions will go up, so that makes it harder to spam effectively. We will see more of this, so report what you see to those who can do something about it.

Hive Sites

  • NFTMart is a place to buy items for various Hive games. I just use it for @risingstargame as it makes it simple to find cards and do a single transaction to buy them. I can also sell on there.
  • @splinterlands players can use PeakMonsters to manage their decks. I use SplinterRents to rent out my cards.
  • I use Tribaldex to manage my 'diesel pools' of various tokens, but you can also use it to buy and sell Hive Engine tokens.
  • There are various sites to track what is happening with your account, but I use Hive Now that gives simple details on votes and rewards.

The End

I have done #FollowFriday most weeks for years, but I am happy to see others use the tag or their own variations for promoting other users. I do encourage use of the beneficiaries feature when doing that to spread the rewards. Let me know if you do such posts.

Hive five!

Well the markets are in turmoil right now, so be glad it's not dropping more. There have to be reasons for it to go up. Did you recruit anyone? It all helps.

Thank you for the mention man, I hate to critise Hive, since it is more good than bad imo. But yeah that's one area that certainly needs work.

Nice to see Leo doing well and make it onto you list.

Also, scams and scammers are annoying and really do find everywhere, even this Haven. But, as you said, we have a good defense against them.

We have to discuss the problems if we are going to do something about them. I still think Hive is amazing and it's been pretty resilient over the years. Everyone can be looking out for scams. I am wary of anything that seems too good.

I nearly got dooped by one when I first started here, I think the guy said he was paying a silly amount of HBD per Witness Vote, I was just about to click it and then stepped back. Sure enough, it was a dirty scam.

The new notifications on Leo are petty slick. I wrote a post from there this morning and I got to see them in action. It was quite exciting.

I don't generally post from there, but am doing threads there and in Ecency Decks. It's cool to have all these options.

I don't know what Ecency Decks is. I need to Thread more than I have been.

You can monitor it too. I have a 'portfolio' set up in Coingecko to track coins I care about. I use their API to generate the graph.

And you think I understood what you wrote? Do you take me for a smart one? hahaha I'll try to understand how you do it in the next few weeks.

I need to understand what API means. After that, maybe things will be clearer. !CTP

A lot of people are really happy about the price of Leo
It is a good one and I just hope that the price of Hive could increase that way too

The market decides prices. We have to make Hive valuable.

I'm fine with people criticizing hive. There are aspects that can be improved and if we came take criticism it's a bad state of affairs.

As long as it's not rage quit criticism 😀

From the way we see the market has been coming down continuously for the past few days but from the way we have seen the highs are very strong within it and now see the leo price going up alot hopefully this rally will continue. Thanks for sharing.

I love seeing Hivers collaborate on projects. Poet @raj808 and @nickyhavey did that on a spoken word piece that was performed at a poetry evening.

Thanks for the shout-out and highlighting our posts @steevc 👍
It took a lot of time to put that piece together, and a small amount of money as we had it professionally digitally mastered at a studio for £20 each. But when you love your craft you want it the best it can be.

Nicky's music lifted that poem to a whole different level! 🙂

P.s. I also read @killerwot post and it intrigued me as I recently wrote a 1600-word comment (yes you heard that right) in response to Alexvan, who promptly ran away, and went and told everyone in the private LeoFinance discord (or telegram) & lordbutterfly turned up on my post trying his little tricks to goad me into a conversation so he could try to control the narrative of the comment I'd written (but I refuse to engage with him as I've watched him on hive gaslighting people for shts and giggles for the last 5 and a half years.) Strangely enough, he used to spend a huge amount of time (as I did) facing down bidbot owners, but I made one small allusion to the wasted opportunities of his (DHF) marketing campaign (201 words out of a 1600 word comment).

And quite frankly, until we get these rid of the 'gatekeeper' types who are sent to try to contradict, confuse and generally create noise around criticisms, people will continue to be driven away from hive, when they should be nurtured, or at least judged on their content.

The content creators (outside of the many games) are the product of hive. And I've repeatedly seen high-quality creative writers (mainly because that is what I've been around most of the time, hounded off Steem (back in the day), I haven't so much on hive so far.

But it is these things that make me mad about hive. It's literally destroyed from within by what I call 'Opinion Junkies'... people who write, talk or vlog exclusively about hive, hive politics and hive projects. And d'you know how boring that content is to people outside hive? VERY BORING. It brings no appeal to anyone other than potential people from other crypto projects. See for yourself on the link below, I got 1 comment about the actual post beyond all the hive-centric nonsense.

I wish you could be making that money back from the Hive posts, but I expect you care more about what you created.

Yeah, it would have been nice... but I've always been a content first person. It is why I won't put fiction up here anymore. My current WIP right now goes to an agent who pitches it to various mainstream publishing entities.

The £20 was worth it though, as I've always wanted a piece of my poetry featured on a musical track, and D'n'B is one of my fav genres. Plus I'm a perfectionist, and the track will go out via 6 0r 7 different web 2.0 distributors as well 🙂

LEO still seems to be holding these levels quite nicely. Ongoing ad revenue will go a long way to create support as continuous buys will be taking place via the new ad revenue model. It's looking good so far!
