The News
It seems that Bitcoin Pizza Day pretty much coincided with a new ATH for $BTC. It has fallen back a little, but then the markets have been shaken up by the latest idiocy emanating from the White House. Elect a clown and get a circus.
There is another chance to vote up a Hive project on The dapp list. We should do anything we can to give Hive more good exposure. Anyone can do this and we all stand to benefit. If you have a following on other platforms then share good content that you find here. It obviously takes more than just rewards to keep people here, so we should show that we have cool creators.
I saw some more drama around someone admitting that they use 'AI' bots in creating their posts. Some people are very against that so it got a bit heated. I think the best policy is always to be up front about what you do and then people can decide whether you are earning votes. Otherwise you may get found out anyway and then it is bound to end badly. My posts are entirely the product of my brain, complete with all the mistakes it makes.
Friday Follows
- I get a lot of news from the weekly posts by @gadrian. He also posts on a Friday and I try not to duplicate too much of what he has. You may as well follow him too.
- @harbiter is a good example of a musician embracing Hive. A lot of people are frustrated by other platforms. Hive is still pretty small, so you can get noticed and anyone can earn.
- I have met @zirochka at Hive events and she does a great job of showing that life can go one despite the terrible events in Ukraine. I visited that country for work a few years back and it is terrible to see it destroyed.
- @holoz0r echoes some of my thoughts on pushing Hive as an alternative to the various crowdfunding platforms.
The Dog House
In my search for #BritList candidates I am finding a few accounts with UK locations on their profiles that look dodgy. I am not saying for sure that this one is, but it follows the pattern of zero follows/followers, a single post about Hive gaming, iffy location capitalisation, using @reward.app for quick cashing out and a vote from @honey-swap. Some of these accounts have received downvotes, so others seem to suspect abuse. People look out for suspicious behaviour, so the rewards are likely to be minimal. If people are genuine then they need to show it. At least introduce yourself so what others have some idea of what you are about.
The End
How are you feeling about Hive these days? We should be able to express how we feel, even if it is negative. Just complaining may not win you friends, but we have to be open to people pointing out the issues.
I have been here nearly nine years and I still believe in the potential of Hive. We have issues with feuds, but most people just get on with posting and being social. If you are just focusing on rewards then it may feel like hard work. Make it fun.

I think hive is going quite well these days. No real drama, people just doing their thing. Some helpful noises around onboarding. All good for now!

Impatience is how I feel about HIVE :) I want to see more people here. I want more moving, human, vulnerable content from people. Their personal stories, original content, that they've gone out and discovered for themselves, or that they've wrenched out from within themselves and put on display to show us all.
I guess I'm just sick of scrolling past all the actifit and splinterlands / look at this shit token on hive engine content and just want deep, meaningful , or heck, insightful posts.
It is increasingly rare that I find that content. I have to scroll deeper and deeper into Hive's created section in search of such things.
In the interim, I try to create some of it every now and then, but with my growing, general sense of optimism (I thought I'd never say that) - about my personal life in general, it gets more difficult to follow the trope that artists only create great work when they're truly miserable.
I feel it too after all these years, but I can find some good stuff here. You just have to be picky about who you follow. That will always be a small percentage of however many we have here. It doesn't all have to be 'professional' level stuff if people can form communities around whatever they are into. We just need some stars to bring in more consumers.
Oh, it certainly doesn't need to be professionally told stories. There's a difference between a good story told, and a shitty story told in a professional manner. Just look at some of the movies that come out these days. :)
I am so excited not so much about those who I follow, but those that are out there that I don't know about, and haven't discovered yet.
I just hope we get real people and not hordes of AI slop

I totally feel you about finding good content on Hive. Some people just post about their Splinterland journey. And I think the fear many people have of not exposing themselves for privacy is also something that keeps Hive a step behind other socials. I understand why it's done, but objectively it ruins a bit the "social" part if we don't share who we are, if we don't tell how our day has been. Because that's what is happening everyday on Meta and company
I use the same username on hive as I do on instagram. I link my website in my hive profile which has my full name on it. I have no issue. The information is out there about me if someone wants to go digging and find it anyway. The truth is, no one ever actually really looks. :P

So far, apart from the occasional AI-generated image (mentioned as such), I haven't used AI in my posts. Unless we count posts where I describe issues with certain AI models or what they are capable of doing, or my recent attempt to build an app using AI (which I may continue, but we'll see if I post about it more or not). A lot of genuine engagement on those posts though, which means people are at least curious, if not interested/involved in the subject. All or most of my posts about AI were like that in terms of engagement, if I remember correctly.
