The News

Today I did a Thread saying that $HIVE needed to stay above 36c. It has been teasing that level for a while. My wish came true, but it may just be riding a general market wave.

Thread

I use Threads much as I would Twitter/X to throw ideas and links out. Sometimes they get a good reaction. People like @taskmaster4450 are watching the feed and vote up things they like. He has a post on what he thinks it will take to make $HIVE go up. I think it has great potential in various areas. We could get some people who do not like the way the corporate platforms are going, but also those who feel they should be earning for what they do.

Prices

The price action is not too dramatic, but I think $HIVE is gradually edging up. There may be more bumps along the road.

Hive Power Up Day is fast approaching. If you power up then you can earn a badge, and possibly a prize.

Friday Follows

These folk get a share of the post rewards.

Recruitment and Retention

These two 'R's are vital to the success of Hive. Over the last few years the number of active users has not grown massively and has fallen back in some areas. We have growth in places like Venezuela and Cuba where the income makes a real difference, but others may think that $HIVE at 36c is not worth their time. I think you need to play the long game as it could be worth more by the time you can power down. Some of the old users may have just switched to taking the $HBD interest. I think the social side can be fun. I get good engagement on my posts, but then I have built up lots of connections. You have to put in some effort if you expect to earn.

So we need to bring in more people and keep those we have active. Some reasons I've heard for these things not happening include:

  • It is too complicated. Well that tends to be an issue with any cryptocurrency. You have to be responsible for your keys, but the Keychain tool helps with that.
  • Signing up is hard. There are various ways to create an account. Peakd offer some. Not all cost money, but may involve some form of KYC just to prevent people claiming lots of accounts. Anyone with a decent amount of HP can claim account creation tokens. I have loads and will help people out on that front.
  • My posts do not get votes. Marketing yourself on any platform takes effort. You need to stand out from the crowd. You need to engage with others who share your interests and get involved with relevant communities.
  • I get downvoted. I have heard many people complain about this and some seem to get driven away. We do need to deal with abuse, but the moderation needs to be proportionate. I am in favour of people being given a chance before taking all their rewards. Hive is not like other platforms and they need to learn what is acceptable. Too many will get a couple of downvotes and just give up, whilst telling their friends 'Hive sucks!'. We cannot afford that bad publicity.

What other excuses have you heard? I will be compiling the #BritList again next week and I expect numbers to be down. I really want to see them go up, so I am looking for ways to improve things.

The End

These are 'interesting' times for crypto with regulation being introduced in some places, high publicity fraud cases and general suspicion that it is all a con. We need to spread good vibes about Hive as a welcoming platform for all. I do not expect to agree with everyone here, but I find plenty to enjoy.

Hive five!

Good luck with Hive, I am done with this chain as long as self proclaimed gods control what is good or bad, unfortunately we are far away from decentralized. Nothing much better as before on Steemit

Personally I think it's much better than Steemit that was controlled by Ned's company. We have some big trolls, but I think most big accounts want it to succeed and that won't happen if they drive people away. What bad experiences have you had?

Update: I saw one guy gave you some downvotes. Any idea why?

Yes I know why, also friends got flags - no need to mention why anymore, personal things, criticism towards a God is not always welcomed, even related to a game mainly 😁

It's this sort of petty disagreement that I see as harmful to Hive. I hate to see people driven away.

Yep, I even think that guys wants to do good in general but some things are over the top, losing me is no major loss for the chain as such, only a bit sad for music community but they might be able to handle without me

Where will you go instead? The corporate platforms suck and Hive has the potential to shake things up. We don't want people to spoil that.

Not going anywhere to create content, no one reads it anyway. I actually was staying on Hive mainly as of a game but even that is no fun anymore within the community chats these days.

Music is the only content area I would miss but not going somewhere else for writing 😬

Hive has currently been showing a good form in the recent times and i hope it continues to gradually move in that trend. Good one friend.

Bear markets are rough ... this is my second bear, and it is psychologically no joke to see rewards cut down to one-tenth EVEN WHEN YOU UNDERSTAND the market. I don't have to count on Hive to get my family out of a no-win situation, so I have not faced that higher level of pain -- but many have. Also, add the DV culture on top of that -- I recently had to fight my way out of that kind of foolery, and that's another load. That last part is what Hive will be held to account for in the market, sooner or later -- I think we have until the next bear to get it together on that, or NOT.

In the meantime, I stay because I do see a vision of Hive's future that is hopeful -- that development will continue, that we will get things together in terms of balancing abuse control and letting people actually enjoy their free speech and/or not making them collateral damage to whale wars, and that many more people will discover and share in the abundance Hive offers. I also do small maths in my head well, so I instinctively know working through two years of a falling Hive is actually going to lead to having much more to work with on the rise -- nine posts that do well at a 36-cent Hive are equivalent to that one post that did well at the peak, so how many times can I achieve that while Hive is going sideways around this level? Can I up my game and get a few posts in position where they will pop those full-bull numbers even now? I see this as a time for mental toughness, ingenuity, and training to REALLY do some things in terms of creating and investing in the bull ... but then, my father is a military veteran, and my mother's people were disciplined and successful farmers, so I was literally BUILT for Hive. It may be that Hive requires us to grow in self-discipline and ingenuity to succeed right now, and we are marketing it without indicating that fact.

I've seen everything from 7c to several dollars. I kept posting anyway, but then I didn't desperately need the money. That's how I got to orca and beyond. I think that if we can grow then the bad actors will have less influence. The damage they do in platform reputation is disproportionate to the number they actually affect. Bad news travels fast.
That said, fighting abuse is a thankless task that may not even pay well. I've been involved with it and still get downvotes from some disgruntled folk. I still think it needed doing.
We are the pioneers and we will have setbacks.

Exactly ... trail blazing is hard work ... but the people that come after us will have it easier...

Threads has been hit or miss for me. I probably don't use it as much as I should. Hopefully one day I will get to it a bit more. I have a bit of a power up I am sitting on for HPUD.

Wow thanks for the mention Steeve. I've been sitting on this idea for a while just needed to find some time to execute. Hope it brings done fun to the community!

I've had a few friends sign up to hive them loose interest because they want instant gratification. I guess they looking for that insta famous culture! And like you say, here it takes some work. It's not for everyone, but if you make some good connections with other hivers with common interests it can be loads of fun!

There's lots of types of creator. Most of us are just doing this on the side and partly for fun, but there are so many dedicated content creators out there. I think some of them could benefit from what Hive offers, especially if they struggle to earn anything elsewhere. If they can bring over a few followers then everyone benefits. You just cannot expect it to happen overnight.

My previous @v4vapp proposal has expired. I have a new one which is running but unfunded right now. I'm still running @v4vapp and all my other services.

I've just updated v4v.app and I'm getting ready for some exciting new features after the next hard fork.

Please consider asking your friends to vote for prop #265 or consider unvoting the return vote.

For understandable reasons in the current crypto climate it is harder to get funded by the DHF, I accept this so I'm asking a wider audience for help again. I'll also add that I power up Hive every day and usually power up larger amounts on 1st of the Month. I'm on Hive for ideological reasons much more than for only economic benefit.

Additionally you can also help with a vote for Brianoflondon's Witness using KeyChain or HiveSigner

If you have used v4v.app I'd really like to hear your feedback, and if you haven't I'd be happy to hear why or whether there are other things you want it to do.
