The News

It is nice to see the $HIVE price hovering around 30c now. It still seems to be mostly down to Korean trading, but it is an improvement on the last month or so. I still cannot comprehend why anyone wants the 'blue token'. Hive has so much going on.

Prices

It looks like some reports about #HiveFest are appearing now. Those who were there will have been busy. See what @detlev, @neopch, @gr33nm4ster, @trostparadox, @chrisrice, @sofiag, @brianoflondon, @lordbutterfly and others are posting. I have not had time to watch the videos yet, so I welcome any summaries of notable news.

I see @leofinance are adding algorithmic feeds. Currently with Threads you get the 'firehose' of everything. There is enough to make that overwhelming. They say it will just use the data we provide publicly anyway. Anyone can check who we follow and what topics we post about. You have to remember that Hive is very open when it comes to data.

Friday Follows

  • @rak7 is a writer who just joined Hive, but took the unusual step of massively powering up from the start and is already beyond Orca level. I hope it works out well for them. If a few more people took that sort of risk it could make people take notice of Hive.
  • @kathrynkw is here thanks to her auntie @livinguktaiwan. She is also into travel and is posting about that.
  • @keffra is a fellow drummer, or Drumblebee (appropriately). They linked to some cool recordings and I hope to hear more.
  • @thebeardflex is collecting music, art etc on the theme of Halloween.

These people get a share of the post rewards.

The Doghouse

I know some people missed having this segment last week. I do not like to dwell on the negative aspects of Hive too much, but we have to be realistic about the issues. Someone has to deal with the abuse and that may not make them popular with all.

This post earned lots of rewards initially, but you will see those have been removed after the owner provided no verification of who they are. They did not even comment when challenged. It will be fairly trivial to extract a few photos from other social sites and generate some generic text using 'AI' tools to mass-create accounts. We need to be vigilant. Anyone joining Hive is likely to have an established presence elsewhere and could easily verify that they control both. When rewards are at stake you need to be prepared to prove you are a real person. Checking for that may get harder as the bots get smarter.

You may have seen some comments by an account claiming to deal with 'downvote abuse'. They talk about reporting it to US authorities, but I doubt they are interested. Hive rewards are not guaranteed and the community gets to decide on the distribution. There are a few bad actors with substantial stake, but they are a tiny minority. Downvotes make up a minuscule percentage of activity here anyway.

The End

We are already at the end of September. That means another HPUD is imminent. There are prizes to be won, as well as the badges.

It is still a week until I generate another #BritList, so there is time to notify me of people I may have missed. I did a post this week looking at active accounts in other countries, but that used very basic queries. Lots of people will not have searchable metadata on their account to give their location and so it takes some manual effort to build a useful list. If you want to do it for your country then I may be able to help.

Hive five!

Wow, that's an impressive step for that one user. It sounds like they are ready to start making some stuff happen here! Fingers crossed they stick around!

Maybe they made a lot of money elsewhere in crypto. They have a decent vote from the start, but I said I don't need it :)

Yeah, that could be. That was always my plan to some degree. If I make a bunch of money somewhere, a portion of it will be funneled back into Hive.

Some small amounts I made elsewhere got moved here. I had a little $DOGE that gained a lot of value, so I converted it as it actually has some use here.

That is cool. I am hoping to take advantage of the next bull run and get some more capital in here.

I moved my DOGE over too along with some Tezos. Have chipped in FIAT too.

It’s genuinely uplifting to witness the warm welcome and recognition from seasoned Hivers like you, @steevc78!

Taking the plunge with a significant power-up was a conscious decision to not just dip my toes but dive headfirst into this bustling, creative community. I truly believe in Hive’s potential as a platform that not just values, but also robustly supports its content creators.

My journey has just begun, and I’m eager to learn, engage, and contribute actively, while hopefully encouraging others to invest their trust and resources in Hive as well. Cheers to a collaborative, rewarding adventure ahead!

Well it got you noticed for sure. Of course a lot of people cannot afford to do that, but Hive can be for everyone. Your stake lets you distribute a lot of rewards each day, so enjoy that.

Then there is !BEER :)

'Auntie @livinguktaiwan' cracked me up.

Aunties are supposed to be large, oldish ladies who bake cakes all day, serve you milk and cookies, and pat you on the head for being bad. My stereotypical mind at work again hehe..., sorry 'P' 😃

I just went over and checked out the post, wow, they got nuked. But, it's good that we have alot of aware people here to keep abusers in check. Obviously there are grey areas, and people who may be unfairly downvoted, however, for reasons like this it's neccesary.

Also, that's so stupid, the account saying they're reporting people for downvoting. Very fishy and it's better to ignore any links they post.

I saw that, it's a major power up and great to see. I'm not in a position to make a plunge like that, but I'm building myself up at a pretty good pace. I'm waiting for the market to recover so I can unload all my stuff - preferbly when it's in the green - and use it to buy more Hive.

Exactly the way we are seeing the news is doing well in the market and its price is stagnating but here people are starting to put money into it and we will see that in the next few time. We may see its price go up.

I'm very happy about the price of Hive
I don't also want to ever see it go lower than that
