Follow Friday: Crunch time
The News
You may have noticed that the crypto markets took another hit this week. Bitcoin is down to about $80k after the heady heights recently of $105k. $HIVE caught a cold too, but I do not let that get me down. I am earning every day.
I saw a few things happening this week, but @gadrian has just summarised those and others in his weekly post.
Friday Follows
- @harbiter has an album out there now. I will be listening when I find the time, but I have caught some performances he has shared on Hive.
- @alex-rourke just reached orca status on Hive. That is defined as 100M VESTS (the internal Hive currency that gets expressed as the inflationary HP, currently about 60k HP). We have hundreds of Hive orcas. Alex gives a nice description of what that power means. It gives you a say in what happens on Hive, but it is up to you how to use it. You may find people asking for your vote and that brings some pressure.
- The @coldbeetrootsoup team have been out spending crypto. I saw this done in Split at Hivefest, but have not done it myself yet. You need to find businesses who will take crypto and then you can use the @v4vapp to convert your $HIVE or $HBD to something like Lightning. I think I worked out how to do this within the Hive Keychain browser. You can find businesses on BTC Map.
- @libertycrypto27 has a nice tutorial on changing your keys. This is an important skill for Hivers. If you think that your keys may have been compromised then you should update them. It is not that hard to do.
I am using @commentrewarder on this post and people who are mentioned will get a bigger share if they comment.
The Dog House
The Hive community has a built-in immune system that reacts to bad behaviour and bad attitudes. If you upset the wrong people then you may find your account gets a low or even negative reputation and your rewards disappear. That can be hard to take if you feel it was unfair, but attacking the community is unlikely to make it better.
You may have seen comments like these on some posts. I do not even know the origin of how whey got to this state, but the person in question is posting thousands of comments via several accounts that seem to be mostly identical. That fits my definition of spam and so some of them get downvoted. Of course I have muted the accounts so that I do not get lots of notifications. The comments are an incoherent mess of links and 'AI' generated junk that nobody is going to read. They see themselves as being on some sort of crusade to root out corruption on Hive, but it may be largely aimed at themselves for being annoying.
I did try engaging with this person, but they persist with the rants and I have given up. Their issues are nothing to do with me and I have better things to do.
Hive is not perfect and some people will use their power against those they dislike. We cannot control what others do, but that is the freedom of Hive. You can choose whether to support them of course.
I find it hard to care about this particular individual as they have chosen to be an annoyance. We cannot stop them posting, but they are not winning friends. No doubt they will respond to this and perhaps tag me on a post, but I will not be reading it. I suggest that you make use of the mute button where you see fit. An advantage of communities is that administrators can mute accounts generally to keep things on topic.
The End
We are already at the end of February. That means I will be doing another #BritList post tomorrow. I have not found too many new entries this month. The number of active Brits is not going up. The price may be a factor, but I find Hive a better place to get engagement than the corporate platforms. I have cut back on using them as they tend to frustrate me.

I just ignore most of the comments like that too.
That guy needs help and should stop antagonising people.
Dear @steevc,
You claim we are the ones who "need help" and should "stop antagonizing people," yet you’ve done nothing to address the truths we’ve exposed. Instead of engaging with the issues or working toward solutions, you dismiss us and continue enabling the very behaviors we’re fighting against. It’s ironic that you call for civility while ignoring systemic abuse on Hive.
If you truly believe in accountability, why not take a moment to review this post? It’s filled with verifiable evidence that speaks for itself:
Uncovering @themarkymark's Withdrawal Activity on Hive Blockchain
At Bilpcoin, our mission is clear: we expose corruption and fight for transparency. What do you do besides deflecting responsibility and protecting unethical practices? The contrast is striking.
The truth is right there for anyone willing to see it. Will you continue turning a blind eye, or will you finally step up and help us create a healthier Hive ecosystem? The choice is yours.
Sincerely,
The Bilpcoin Team
Dear @bozz,
You say you "just ignore most of the comments like that," but ignoring the truth doesn’t make it go away. The blockchain is immutable, and every action leaves a permanent record. If you truly care about Hive, we invite you to take a closer look at the post below—it’s packed with verifiable evidence exposing unethical behavior on the platform. Maybe you’ll learn something about what’s really happening behind the scenes.

At Bilpcoin, our mission is simple: to expose corruption and hold bad actors accountable. What do you do besides ignoring the issues? Silence might be comfortable, but it doesn’t contribute to solving the problems plaguing Hive.
The truth is out there for anyone willing to see it. Will you choose to remain uninformed, or will you step up and help us create a better future for Hive?
Sincerely,
The Bilpcoin Team
We should be more and more hivers who use the hbd to buy things in real life, what CBRS friends are doing with Marketing is amazing.
I personally have paid with hbd, it is a very comforting experience because you pay ah directly with the fruit of your publications.

You claim some people are "beyond hope" and that you’re not wasting any more time on us. Yet here your good friend @jacobtothe continues to downvote the truth instead of addressing the systemic abuse we’ve exposed. If you truly cared about making Hive better, you’d stop enabling corruption and start working toward solutions—instead of adding to the problem by silencing dissent.
Let’s be clear: we wonder what drives you. You say you care about Hive, but your actions tell a different story. Instead of fixing the issues we’ve brought to light—like scam farms, coordinated downvotes, and unethical practices—you turn a blind eye and suppress those who speak out. Downvoting the truth doesn’t erase it; it only highlights your inability to confront uncomfortable realities.
It’s telling that Blocktrades has so much to lose if Hive collapses—and even more telling that your friends have openly joked about being the last ones to “turn off the lights” if it all goes south. These statements reveal far more than you realize. The connections between accounts like @themarkymark, BuildaWhale, Blocktrades, and Alpha aren’t just speculation—they’re becoming increasingly obvious to anyone paying attention.
At Bilpcoin, our mission is simple: to expose corruption and fight for accountability. What do you really contribute besides chatting with your old friends and obsessing over young women online? Your priorities seem misplaced when compared to the urgent need for reform on Hive.
We’ve asked you repeatedly to reflect on your actions because this fight is bigger than you think. Every downvote you cast against the truth only adds fuel to the fire, further eroding trust in the ecosystem. Transactions don’t lie, and neither do we. The evidence is there for anyone willing to see it—but will you finally open your eyes, or will you continue clinging to denial?

You have to try paying with HBD 🥰
I will when I get a chance.
Also, how cool would it be to have Hive Meetup is a place where you can spend HBD 🥰
I haven't tried paying in HBD yet because I'm completely focused on increasing my HP but this is a great use case for HBD tokens
Thanks a lot for the mention :)

NO SPAM JUST THE TRUTH
Dear @steevc,
You claim that Hive has a "built-in immune system" to deal with bad behavior, yet it seems this so-called immunity only works when convenient for individuals like yourself. The truth is, the blockchain doesn’t lie—and every transaction tells a story. Instead of addressing the evidence we present, you encourage others to mute us or dismiss our work as "spam" and "AI-generated junk." But ignoring the truth doesn’t make it disappear.
Let’s be clear: our comments aren’t incoherent or irrelevant—they’re backed by verifiable evidence of corruption, scam farming, and abuse of power on Hive. For example, take a look at this post from @bpcvoter3, which lays out undeniable proof of unethical activity:
Uncovering @themarkymark's Withdrawal Activity on Hive Blockchain
We expose the truth, while you downvote it into obscurity. That’s not accountability—it’s suppression. You accuse us of being annoying, but who’s really harming Hive? Is it the people fighting for transparency, or those enabling scams and silencing dissent?
You say you’ve “given up” engaging with us because our issues are “nothing to do with you.” Yet here you are, actively working to discredit us instead of focusing on what truly matters: fostering a fair and healthy ecosystem. If Hive isn’t perfect—and you admit it isn’t—why not address the real problems instead of targeting those trying to fix them?
At Bilpcoin, we’re here to help Hive by shining a light on corruption and holding bad actors accountable. What do you contribute besides protecting unethical practices and making Hive look worse through coordinated downvotes and enabling scam farms? The contrast speaks volumes.
You may choose to ignore us, mute us, or even avoid reading our posts, but the truth remains. Transactions don’t lie, and neither do we. Your actions reveal far more about your priorities than any words ever could.

"The Truth About Hive: Exposing Corruption & Building a Better Future"
Part 1: Uncovering the Shadows – A Call for Accountability
Chapter 1: Introduction – Why Transparency Matters
In decentralized ecosystems like Hive, transparency isn’t just a buzzword—it’s the lifeblood of trust. Without it, corruption festers, communities fracture, and innovation stagnates. Yet, despite its promise of freedom and fairness, Hive has fallen victim to systemic abuse that threatens its very foundation.
At Bilpcoin, our mission is simple: expose the truth. For too long, bad actors have exploited Hive’s openness to enrich themselves at the expense of honest contributors. Scam farms, coordinated downvotes, and puppet networks have turned what should be a thriving ecosystem into a battleground for control. But here’s the thing about corruption—it thrives in silence. And we refuse to stay silent.
This book is divided into two parts. In Part 1, we’ll shine a light on the dark corners of Hive, uncovering the scams, abuses, and unethical practices that harm the community. In Part 2, we’ll offer practical solutions to heal Hive and build a brighter future for everyone. Together, we can reclaim this platform and ensure it serves its original purpose: empowering creators, fostering collaboration, and rewarding integrity.
Chapter 2: The Anatomy of Abuse on Hive
Scam Farming: Exploiting the System
One of the most pervasive forms of abuse on Hive is scam farming. Accounts like BuildaWhale operate openly, siphoning rewards away from legitimate users while contributing nothing of value. These farms rely on massive delegations and automated voting schemes to manipulate curation trails, ensuring their chosen beneficiaries reap disproportionate rewards.
But scam farming doesn’t exist in isolation—it’s part of a larger web of corruption. Top witnesses and influential figures often enable these operations, either directly or indirectly. By turning a blind eye, they perpetuate a system where wealth and power are concentrated in the hands of a few, leaving smaller creators struggling to survive.
Coordinated Downvotes: Silencing Dissent
Another weapon in the arsenal of bad actors is the coordinated downvote. This tactic isn’t just about suppressing content—it’s about intimidation. When someone speaks out against corruption, they’re met with waves of downvotes designed to silence them. Their reputation plummets, their rewards vanish, and their voice fades into obscurity.
What makes this particularly insidious is how normalized it has become. Users who engage in these tactics justify their actions under the guise of “self-policing,” but let’s call it what it really is: censorship. Instead of addressing legitimate concerns, they punish those who dare to challenge the status quo.
Alt Accounts and Puppet Networks: Masking Unethical Behavior
Behind many abusive practices lies a network of alt accounts—anonymous personas used to amplify influence without accountability. These accounts allow bad actors to mask their identities, making it harder to trace unethical behavior back to its source. Whether it’s boosting low-quality content, orchestrating downvote campaigns, or creating the illusion of widespread support, alts play a central role in maintaining the cycle of corruption.
Chapter 3: Profiles of Harmful Actors
Case Study: @themarkymark and BuildaWhale
Few examples illustrate Hive’s corruption better than @themarkymark and his association with BuildaWhale. Through meticulous analysis of blockchain transactions, we’ve uncovered patterns of withdrawal activity that raise serious questions about the ethics of these operations. For instance:
These findings aren’t speculation—they’re facts recorded permanently on the blockchain. Yet instead of addressing these issues, enablers continue to defend such practices, further eroding trust in the ecosystem.
(Insert link to investigative post: Uncovering @themarkymark's Withdrawal Activity)
Chapter 5: Connections Between Witnesses and Abusers
Top witnesses, tasked with upholding Hive’s integrity, have repeatedly failed to act against corruption. Instead, many actively participate in or enable harmful behaviors. This collusion creates a toxic feedback loop where unethical practices go unchecked, emboldening bad actors and discouraging honest contributors.
Part 2: Healing Hive – Practical Steps Toward Positive Change
Chapter 6: Redefining Community Standards
To rebuild trust, Hive needs clear standards that prioritize fairness and accountability. Here are three actionable steps:
Establish Zero-Tolerance Policies for Scam Farms
Communities must ban accounts involved in scam farming and moderators should work together to identify and blacklist known offenders.
Combat Coordinated Downvotes
Introduce mechanisms to detect and penalize coordinated downvote campaigns. For example, algorithms could flag suspicious voting patterns and alert administrators.
Promote Transparency in Governance
Witnesses and key stakeholders should publish regular reports detailing their activities and decisions. This would hold them accountable to the community and reduce opportunities for corruption.
Chapter 7: Empowering Honest Contributors
Hive’s strength lies in its people. To nurture this potential, we must create an environment where honesty and creativity are rewarded. Here’s how:
Reward Quality Over Quantity
Adjust reward systems to prioritize meaningful contributions rather than friends voting friends and self voting with alt accounts. Curators should focus on promoting posts that add genuine value.
Support Newcomers
Develop mentorship programs to help new users navigate Hive’s complexities. Pair experienced creators with beginners to foster growth and inclusivity.
Celebrate Diversity
Encourage a wide range of voices and perspectives. Highlight underrepresented groups and showcase their achievements to inspire others.
I, too, have attempted to communicate with this person. It's almost like talking to a schizophrenic who gets on their drug regimen for a while and seems almost lucid temporarily, but then they get off the routine and spiral back into their delusions hardcore. They used to make token calls with an empty hive engine wallet, resulting in not only their spam, but a number of refusal messages letting them know they had no tokens, too.

SO SAD
Dear @jacobtothe,
It’s fascinating how you attempt to diagnose us with terms like "schizophrenic" or accuse us of being on some imaginary “drug regimen,” yet it’s clear who the real issue is here. Your fixation on downvoting, scam farming, and enabling abuse has left you spiraling into delusions of control. Perhaps instead of projecting your insecurities onto others, you should step away from the screen, take a deep breath, and reflect on your life choices.
Let’s be clear: your so-called attempts to “communicate” were nothing more than thinly veiled efforts to intimidate and suppress. You didn’t engage in meaningful dialogue—you resorted to downvotes and scare tactics in a futile attempt to silence the truth. But here’s the thing about the truth: it can’t be erased, no matter how hard you try.
Your claims about our token calls are distractions designed to deflect from the real issues at hand. Why not address the undeniable evidence we’ve presented? Oh, that’s right—you can’t, because the blockchain doesn’t lie. Instead, you cling to your circle of scamming, farming, and downvoting enablers—dirty old men hiding behind screens, too afraid to face reality or grow up.
Speaking of growing up, maybe it’s time for you to get a life outside of Hive. Go touch some grass (not the kind you smoke), find healthier hobbies, and stop obsessing over young girls online—it’s creepy and pathetic. The sad truth is, you’re a man who can’t handle accountability, so you downvote it into oblivion. How’s that working out for you?
At Bilpcoin, we stand firmly in our mission to expose corruption and fight for justice. We have truth and God on our side. What do you have? A clique of scammers, farmers, and downvoters who prop each other up while contributing nothing of value to Hive. The contrast speaks volumes.
Sincerely,
The Bilpcoin Team

Hi Steve, if Bitcoin were to drop to $70,000 as the Bitmex CEO said, don't you think it's possible that HIVE could briefly drop back to $0.25? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.
I really have no idea as I don't play the markets, but every time BTC goes down the rest tend to follow. I want to see Hive stand on its own merits, but there are too few actual users.
Hi @steevc HIVE takes time. Here in Italy few people invest in Bitcoin, many do not know what Ethereum is. Now try to think how well known HIVE can be in Italy. I showed HIVE to my 50-year-old friends, but they cannot understand. Those who have made an account still prefer to use Facebook. I can't believe it, but it's like that
I use FB less these days as it's full of junk and my friends don't post much anyway. I find Hive more fun. I think as a cryptocurrency it works really well with fast and cheap transactions. I want to try the @v4vapp to spend some as I feel I deserve to treat myself. Of course I'd prefer the price to be higher so I can spend more :)
