The News

Last week I reported that $HIVE was going up. Of course that soon changed and it lost the gains of recent weeks. I do not expect anyone to take what I say as financial advice as I just say what I see. I am happy that it is climbing again. You have to take a long-term view on these things, especially as most of us have it staked so cannot sell on a whim. Some may say that 13 weeks is too long to power down, but it was about 100 when the chain started. Some of the other variants reduced the time, but I think we need to encourage investment. Having some HP can earn for you as well as giving you a say in the rewards distribution, proposals and witnesses.

$HIVE on @coingecko

A couple of days ago Hive celebrated four years since the fork from the 'legacy chain'. Whilst we have seen lots of innovation and new projects that old thing has stagnated and is being milked by a few people. It really needs to die and we should encourage anyone using it to come to Hive instead. I know there is some bad blood with certain people, but Hive should be open to all. Whether people get support is another matter.

Friday Follows

  • @hiveauctions is a new game where you get to put in bids for a big prize. The concept is pretty simple and it just makes use of the normal Hive transfer system.
  • @chops.support is a voting bot run by @slobberchops. He is looking for more candidates for support, but is struggling to find those who meet the criteria. You need to be serious about growing your account to qualify. I do something similar with @tenkminnows and will be looking to add people to that soon.
  • @jonchosen is a musician in Mexico. He was signed up to Hive by @starkerz who has been giving out $HBD to people who create accounts.
  • @thetroublenotes have been featured here a few times, but I will be meeting them in person next week when they play a gig in London. Check out their infectious tunes.

The Dog House

This is one that I am sure I have mentioned before. On Hive you can get extra rewards by using certain tags, but you need to ensure that you and your content are relevant to it. There is one that is intended to support people in the United Kingdom and some people are using it when they have no link to that country. They get a few cents from the bot, but others follow the voting trail to add to it. There are talks about creating a whitelist, but in the meantime be careful about what trails you follow. Those who persistently abuse the tag may get downvoted. It is up to you to ensure you use such tags responsibly.

The End

We are nearly a quarter of the way through the year, but every day is an opportunity on Hive. I would love to see many more people join this year, so keep spreading the word. When people do join you can help them by writing about them as I do in these posts. I make use of the beneficiaries feature to share rewards with people I mention.

Enjoy your weekend and Hive five!

Well people have been warned :) I've taken the tag out anyway.

That's a pretty clear tag as opposed to some of the other ones, so it is kind of sad that they would be abusing it like that. There's literally no excuse.

They won't make much and it's pretty obvious when it's abused, so they will be found out.

Hive is a great and fruitful chain. Let's keep trailing with commitment.

I had seen the odd person using the UK tag that I couldn't place being UK or even Ex-Pat esque. I think I might pursue with a bit more vigour! :OD

You are doing a great job with @tenkminnows, I was one of the beneficiaries of it even though to date I don't know the Hivian who recommended me. During the last update for tenkminnows I recommended some Hiveans and I see how you support them. I pray Hive keeps growing bigger and better every day.

Maybe they thought UK stood for University of Kentucky...?

I have found that it stands for Ukraine on some accounts. No link to Asian rice fields that I know of and that is what a lot of these people post pics of. They seem too dumb to try and sound genuine :)

As Bitcoin's dominance diminishes further, we will see the prices of all other coins move higher.

It is hard to imagine that four years have passed since leaving the other one behind. It is where I first started my crypto journey and switched to Hive when the split happened. I am so happy I stayed on Hive and never looked back. I just love the friendships I have created within this ecosystem. I am also looking forward to Alt season bringing in some great gains from all our efforts and commitment here. ♥

I guess we already had some virtual Hivefest and two real ones, so that marks the time. Hive is by no means perfect, but it has such great potential. I hope more people get to realise that.

I’m still excited for Hive but would love to be able to embed more things in the content, such as audio. I’ve been writing a Substack and would love to move that lock stock and barrel over here. Then get my near 100 subscribers there to become Hivers!
