The News
I am sure a few people got excited earlier this week when the $HIVE price (vote it up!) went up with a lot of traded volume, but it was not to last long. It has settled back at the previous level. What it needs is more confidence. If you can afford to buy some for #HPUD then go for it, but the volume we see then may not be enough to shift it. We really need more people getting involved with the platform in whatever way suits them. Hive is for bloggers, gamers, collectors and investors.
I reported last week that @pinmapple will be shutting down. We also have @travelfeed who can import your pins. Data on the blockchain is permanent and can be used in different ways.
The PeadD team have been working on various projects. They created Open-Genie that lets you offer bounties for help with your own projects. See the instructions. Hive is a good platform to build on as the transactions are free and fast.

- @gunslingercyborg is a comic artist who has returned to Hive with fresh artworks. People may know that I enjoy comics and we have a few right here on Hive. You can follow the artists to get their work in your feed. Make it entertaining.

The Dog House
I had a comment on a post this week that seemed quite generic and I noticed that their reputation was very low. They just seem to use the same text over and over. That has no value. What does have value is sincerity, so ensure your comments are what you actually feel and aim for quality rather than quantity. It is easy to see if you just pump them out all day. A few comments that create conversations can have more value (in various ways) than a hundred that you put out on every post you see.

My HP ticked over another thousand today. I got to this point with persistent engagement on Hive. I have bought some, but most is earned and I have spent some. Some of that spending was on trips to events like @hivefest and I consider that good value. I really do recommend getting there if you can. If you cannot then organise your own event where you live. It really does not have to be anything fancy as it is the people who matter.
If I can inspire others to promote and enhance Hive then I am perfectly happy.

Whenever these sudden spikes occur, I always check to see whether it's all coming from our Korean friends at Upbit... if it is, then I know we'll give it all back within a few days, sadly.
My guess is that few — if any, at all — of those people even have Hive accounts; they are just traders using "some token that fits a set of criteria" to spin a profit with automated trading. It does make for some frustration, though.
"Sneaky" uptrends seem more sustainable: BTC going sideways, and Hive having a series of consecutive 1-2% up days... and suddenly we've realized a 10-15% gain "while nobody was looking."

I've seen the Koreans move it a few times, but they just take profit where they can. Gradual growth is more sustainable.

I totally agree with you, engagement should not informed by expediency, there should be romance in engagement that adds value. Commenting just for the sake of creating numbers does not bode well. At times Leaderboard of engagement could be distracting, A leaderboard should only be a by-product of engagement, and should not be a catalyst of it.

Let's keep stacking it up everyone :) soon, the next run (which I predict to be from October to early mid 2025) will be massive. I've said it before and of course no one really knows, but it is fun to think of :)
Nobody really knows what will happen, but Hive is fun for me so I keep doing this stuff.
Unfortunately hive trading volume has dropped again. Volume is expected to increase again
There is always some trading going on with at least $1m most days, but we get these spikes. HPUD only really adds a few thousand at best, so we need more than that. I guess the traders consider other coins more 'exciting'.
Sorry mate but after 6 years here accumulating Hive I'm disappointed. I have lost hope in Hive ever gaining value. Price action tells me it's a dud and the tokenomics are broken or the whale devs here are manipulating. Prove me wrong.
I've been here nearly 8 years and I'm disappointed in the lack of growth too. But I am still here anyway as it is fun. I like the community and I've made a lot of friends. I really can't understand why it doesn't attract a lot more crypto fans, but then many are just in it for quick profits. I see people complain about what the whales do, but they have the most to lose and gain, so they ought to be working to build it up. I have met some whales and they are positive about it.
I really don't know where it will be in a few more years, but I'm sticking with it for now.
Honestly, I heard when people said the Koreans pumped Hive but I don’t know how. I wish it could pump like that again though. I’d be glad!
We don't want the short term pumps. We need steady growth through people using Hive.
In the past near a bull run there has always been sporadic spikes until it then takes off. I would much rather it gradually built up value and wasn't subject to the boom and bust ups and downs. But then, that's crypto!
We Hivers get to earn anyway. We'll do okay when the price really goes up.
