The News

There is a lot of talk of bear (as opposed to bull) season and how it makes people give up on Hive. I think we need a new term (perhaps bee season) for when you just keep harvesting that sweet honey/Hive that will do well for you later. Even if you are not posting you can set up your account to curate and earn for you. $HIVE is an active crypto when powered up rather than just sitting there whilst you wait for the price to go up.

Prices

Talking of prices, I generate this graph from @coingecko data to see what is going on. I would expect $HIVE to do better than certain rivals, but they seem to run in parallel.

I just saw this post by @dalz about the numbers of Hive accounts being created. Those numbers are pretty low. We need more active users to make it a viable platform that will be more inviting. Anyone will a decent amount of HP can claim accounts that they can create for friends. Of course it takes work to get those people active and self-sufficient, but I expect many of us would like to move off the legacy corporate platorms.

I keep running my scripts to look for people to add to the #BritList. I found some businesses such as @bxbridal and @reviewer28 who have just posted once so far and I wonder if they will be back. There have been others previously. That gets me wondering on why they do it and who is encouraging them to try Hive. It may be for SEO reasons, but I would hope they could get value from the platform. They are people too and will have stories to tell.

I was amused to see yet another social platform called Hive. I am unlikely to try it, but maybe some people will end up here by mistake.

Friday Follows

  • @verbal-d is a musician who joined this blockchain many years ago. He just came to Hive after years of inactivity. I remember him from the old days. Everyone has other things going on, but I hope more dormant accounts will spring back to life.
  • @whatsup has been here about as long, but has stayed active with interesting posts like this one. We do need to discuss the issues of Hive. No platform is perfect.
  • @lukasbrausch has started a fresh profile for Hive after being on the legacy chain. He wrote a detailed response to a web3/crypto doubter. It amazes me how many dismiss this technology when they do not know how it has evolved.

These people get a share of the post rewards.

Events

  • Hive Fest is just a couple of weeks away. I wish I was going, but I have done my long distance travel for this year. I am sure it will be great.
  • That same week there is a meetup in Halifax, UK for those who can get there.
  • Next week Hive will be represented at a web3 in Las Vegas.
  • @coldbeetrootsoup have a meetup in the Netherlands this month.
  • @shanibeer is involved in a discussion of Hive at a business festival in Leicester, UK in November.

The End

Many will know that I am all in on Hive and do what I can to help it grow. That is because I think it has a lot to offer. I am finding a lot of the corporate platforms very frustrating these days and so it is great to have somewhere I will not be bombarded with ads and 'targeted content'. I have been on other social platforms that just shut down (Google!). I think Hive has staying power and that power is with the users.

Hive five!

I think we need to take the pay piece out of it. If that is how a person gets someone to sign up, they likely won't stick around for long. We need to sell it as more of the community it is. Let the rewards be a fringe benefit. That's what I've been realizing anyway.

It has to be part of the equation. Not everyone feels they need more freedom. We have to find ways to sell the concept that do not sound like a scam.

I think we have seen what happens when people focus solely on the money though. I mean, we've probably all been there at some point, but still.

This is why I tell people to make it fun. They make nothing on Facebook anyway.

We need more new blood I agree. It's nice that your seeing a few dormant account reactivating. As you mentioned before, you worked hard to get where you are now, and it takes a lot of "hand holding" and education to get some on these new folks to stick around. Like @bozz mentioned maybe we should be selling the community as opposed to the financial side of things, the reason I'm still posting is because of the community and it's fun. I'll have to kick some ideas around and see if I can come up with any new ideas...

I think Hive has a lot to offer, including the change to earn. I am disillusioned with some other platforms and others may be too. They just stick with them as that is where their friends are.

Very true, peeling people off of a platform where they have friends might be tough.

I've been doing the same, hopefully I can bring in a few more. Every active person counts!

Thank you so much for supporting and mentioning my new account here! I agree with your analysis that Hive isn't perfect but it's still better than most alternatives out there or it least completes them in a good way. Keep up the good work! 👍

I like bee season. Sounds much better even though it's potentially just as fatal 😂
