@steevc just finished a 7.06km run, that lasted for 44 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 549.0 calories.

Description from Strava:
This is my first training run of the year. It has been cold and we had a little snow to start the week. That has mostly gone, but it was really icy this morning. It was not always that visible where it would be slippery. I felt it before I even got out of the gate, but decided to proceed carefully.

It was still a bit dark when I went out. The local Christmas lights are still up, but I would expect those to be gone soon. Further up the road I could see that a telephone wire was just hanging from a pole. Someone had moved it off the road so I assume it has been reported.

I did the usual loop around Fairfield and it was not too bad, but I was not so quick today. That was a mix of lack of recent running and taking extra care. I could feel my feet slipping a little at times, but I did not have any incidents. The road out of the estate was busy, but someone let me cross.

I just took it steadily and still got a good workout. I do want to improve my fitness this year, so will try to do more other exercises. I may try the 7 minute workout again as that works all the body.

Strava says I ran 1095km last year. I hope to improve on that in 2026. I need to be doing over 21km each week for that. That should be possible if I avoid injury.

I hope to persuade a few more people to join the Hive blockchain this year so they can earn from blogging about their activities and other topics. Let me know if you are interested.

Run free!

I have started listening to the Who Killed JFK? podcast that features film director Rob Reiner who was recently murdered, apparently by his son. I am just interested to learn more about this incident. I also had The Rest is Politics talking about the environment with various people and Late Night Linux.

It looks like the parkrun has a full set of volunteers, so I should be able to run on Saturday. I will help out again this year.

Do they have ordinances where you live that people have to have their lights down by a certain time? We do in certain areas over here. I will probably pull our trees out of the front yard this weekend. I've been getting back into my workout routine after being sick. It has been rough, but it feels good.

I'm not aware of any such rules. We just had a few lights up, but some people go crazy and they can be pretty bright which may disturb neighbours.

Being sick can be a downer and missing out on exercise can set you back. Hope you are better now.

Icy conditions can be tricky, I always change my shoes on such days.
