Morning Run: Ramping up the rails

@steevc just finished a 6.02km run, that lasted for 37 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 436.0 calories.

Description from Strava:
There is a chance of rain today, but it was dry for my run. It was another of my hill sprint workouts. I tried to run through my end point instead of up to it, but the pace was not that special. I did manage a few minutes under 5min/km though.

There are several speed bumps on the road that do not really affect my running, but there is a substantial warning sign that is getting overgrown.

On the way back I diverted over the railway footbridge. This is a long straight bit of rail running from London up to Peterborough and we get quite a few trains passing through. There used to be another crossing where you walked across the tracks, but that was replaced by another footbridge some years ago. It was fairly safe as you could hear and see any trains that were coming.

Someone at work was asking if I wanted to do a marathon in November. I just do not feel ready for that. I would need to start an intensive training regime several months before to build up to it. I could probably do another half marathon now, but have never done a full one.

If you want inspiration there is a 97 year old lady in Ireland who has done 250 parkruns. She took it up a few years ago when she was told to give up climbing. I have only done 144, so I have a couple of years at least to match her.

Run free!

Wow, 250, that is quite impressive. Especially given her age. It gives me some hope that I still might be able to do a proper run one day!

She does it quicker than some people I've seen. We have some people in their 80s at our event. Some of them volunteer just about every week and they enjoy socialising.

The story of the 97 year old woman really helps us see things differently. There is always space for development and progress in our fitness paths :)

It is in Toulouse, so maybe not too bad and you don't want it hot anyway.

There are some quick oldies at our parkrun. I hope I can keep running too. It's going to take many years for me to get to 500, so I need to keep going.

I have been able to help onboard a bit of a parkrunning legend from down under @parkrunmayor . I have forgotten how hard it all is for us none techie types. He has way more parkrun stats than me, hopefully he should have some good content to share.

Cool stuff. I'm sure you can guide him. Using @strava2hive and @worldmappin may be useful. I know it is hard to connect with people. Maybe we need a parkrun community. It would be cool to have posts about the various events. If we pin them to the map then people can see what is available near them. I could set that up.

Update: there is a community, but the owner has not been active in a while. Maybe we need a new one.

I reckon that would be great, I am sure @parkrunmayor and I could post, pin and review 100s of different events we have visited previously and into the future.

Maybe we need to be more inclusive so people could pin there favorite running courses and other events too. Could a map work inside EXHAUST?

I think it may be easier to focus on something specific like parkrun. We could include details about the type of course, facilities, transport links. Some of that is already on the parkrun site, but people could add comments with more info and their own reviews. It's another option to get more useful data onto Hive.

I saw that you already pinned a few courses so I could pull in those posts. You can filter WorldMapPin by tag. I will set something up later and make you a moderator.

Here we go. I was trying to cross-post your old posts, but not all have come through. There may be a limit on how often you can do that. I know you get around so feel free to add them when you have time.
