Morning Run: parkrun 142 Wet
@steevc just finished a 5.02km run, that lasted for 28 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 310.0 calories.
Description from Strava:
The last couple of days have been pretty warm, but overcast at times. I got in the pool for a bit of a swim last night. Rain was predicted for the weekend and it was wet this morning. I jogged and walked to Henlow Bridge Lakes and it was not too bad really, but then it really came down as we assembled at the start. There is a lady who does race walking and she joined us having already done 28 miles and will probably do more after parkrun. She is training for a 100 mile event.
On the way there I chatted to an old guy who usually empties the bins around the village, but he has hurt his leg. He calls me 'me old duck', which is a real local expression.
The course has some tree cover, but we were going to get wet. The ground was rock hard and so was not soaking it up much. So it it was not muddy, but there were some big puddles. I just had to splash through some of those. By the last lap I could see that I was not going to catch anyone, but I could hear someone just behind me. I tried to stay ahead, but he passed me anyway. I just gave it all I had left to the finish. The time was not too bad considering the conditions, but I was doing better last month. On Strava I can see that I got slower as it went on. Maybe that was down to by clothes getting heavier. I would not have been wetter if I had jumped in the lake. There were nearly 120 finishers, so people were obviously determined to come out despite the weather.
I came straight home as I had things to do. I jogged most of the way and then had to dry off a bit at the back door before I could get to the bathroom for a shower and then a coffee to warm me up. It is not too bad running in these conditions really as it is not cold and it is not for very long.
It may rain all weekend, so I will not get much gardening done. I did cut back some brambles last night. I like to keep them under control, but there will be plenty of blackberries next door that we can pick.

Some of those race walkers are very fast. How did she go?
She did the 5k in 37:33, which is not bad. Some people would be happy to run it that quick.
!BEER
!INDEED There is no way I could walk that fast. I think my fastest walked parkrun is 52 minutes !LOL
