Description from Strava:
It is going to be another hot weekend here. Last night I was at a work event that ended with a cruise along the Thames from Tower Bridge to Battersea Power Station. It was a nice evening and London does look nice at night. I did not drink too much, but I got home quite late.

I was still up in time to go to parkrun. Even at 9am it was warming up and I was sweating before we even started as I had jogged some of the way there. We had extra people as some of Shefford Runners were there with people who had graduated on the Couch to 5k course.

As I walked to the start there was a family of geese on the lake. They may have thought I had some food for them as I stopped to take a photo. I was not planning to try too hard given the heat, but I just did what I could. As usual I started off quicker than I should, but you get carried along by the crowd until we get more spaced out.

As I was on my second lap the leader came zooming past me and I can see he got a really good time. I was just trying to keep going. I was expecting my friend Jeff to come past, but he had been following me and just drew level on the finishing straight. We both sprinted, but I think he let me go through first. I was a bit slower than last week, but that was to be expected.

We had a fair few people walking this week, but at least they are getting some exercise. I went for a coffee at the camp site shop with a few others afterwards and we did the sorting of the finish tokens. There were over 220 finishers and I was 70th.

There will be another paced run next month that I have volunteered for.

I shall be in the pool later to cool off.

Enjoy your weekend and run free!

It has been the week of office socials it would seem! That’s a great one, we’ve done a few Thames boat trips over the years.

Good run. Got to go careful in this heat. I’ll be back out on the water this week for some kayak practices, including doing some stuff I don’t enjoy. Rolling, rolling but thankfully not on a river!

We had the business meeting earlier that did include a team puzzle solving exercise (my team won). They just didn't get the catering as planned. At least I didn't have to buy any drinks.

I just accept that some people are much quicker than me. This has not happened too often when I'm really trying, but I got lapped by a few when doing slower pacing.
