Description from Strava:
Yesterday I had my first dip of the year in our pool. It was cold at first, but I swam for a while. Later I got some fish and chips to have with a beer. A storm was forecast for the night and there was some rain as I went to bed. I then had a terrible night as I woke up at some point feeling really hot and it took a while to get back to sleep.
Despite all that I was up for parkrun at Henlow Bridge Lakes today. I jogged some of the way there and it was a good turnout again. Some lady had a rainbow balloon to celebrate 350 runs. I set off trying to keep my friend Graeme in sight as I know he is quicker than me. After about 2km I caught him up, but he pulled ahead after that. I was quite quick at the start and kept pushing. The result was my best time in a couple of years with a big improvement on my best this year. I am very happy with that, but I may have worn myself out.
I went for a coffee with a few of the folk to cool down a bit before heading home. I was able to jog most of that way too.
Since then we have been food shopping and I went up the road to see a friend. I may have another swim lately, but I feel all bunged up. That will partly be hayfever, but I did take a tablet for that. I think it will be an early night and I will see if I am up to running tomorrow.
Enjoy your weekend and run free!

Hey great effort!
Cheers. It's great to see improvement, but I've felt a bit rough all day.
Ah yes, that can be the price for going at it!
It was definitely more than that as I've been all bunged up and feeling run down. Getting over it now, but I obviously have gotten stronger lately if I can run a time like that.
Oh I think I've had that, mainly bunged up, feeling a bit knackered for a few days, bit of a sore throat, then basically fine but still bunged up for another week or two. Yuck.
I think nothing beats chilling with some fish, chips and a beer after a swim.
I must say you have good speed. That's awesome. Running i the best exercise. I hope you released happy hormones.
