Description from Strava:
I was back at Henlow Bridge Lakes for parkrun today. It rained overnight again, but was not looking too bad. I opted for trail shoes, but it was not that muddy. I jogged the 2km to the start and met up with some of the regulars.

I had hopes of a good time based on recent outings, but I probably started off a little too quickly. The first 2km were at a quicker pace than I needed to get the time I wanted, but I do it by feel. I slowed down a little after that as people got more spread out. The start had been quite crowded as more people are running there recently.

On the second lap I nearly had to slow down as some ducks crossed the path, but they retreated. By that stage I was just trying to keep going. It does not get easier. I quite often get a song stuck in my head during parkrun as I do not wear earphones on these events. Today it was a bit of classic Genesis prog. It is quite up-tempo, so it may have helped.

I gave it what I had left at the end where a young lad came past me. The 'sprint' was worth it as I knocked 2s off my best time for the year. I think there is potential for more improvement if I keep up the interval training. This was only slightly slower than my best for last year, but the 'age rating' was better as I am older.

I jogged most of the way home. We did have plans to go out, but the weather is not looking great so that may be something for tomorrow. Instead we did the weekly food shop and I will be in the garden if the rain holds off.

Enjoy your weekend and run free.
