Morning Ride: A few of my favourite things
steevc just finished a 15.8km ride, that lasted for 108 minutes.

Description from Strava:
The two big attractions of Salzburg in Austria for tourists are Mozart, who was born there, and The Sound of Music, that was set and filmed there. The latter may have been a bigger draw for us, but it is also a place we had not visited before.
We had seen someone do a cycle tour based on the film on TV, so that looked like something we wanted to do. It is a great way to explore a place. The tour is run by Fraulein Maria's Bicycle Tours and our guide was Georgia who is from the USA. The weather was not great as the rain had set in, but the tour runs anyway. They did supply us with lightweight rain ponchos that stopped us getting soaked.
The bikes are sturdy and built for comfort rather than speed. The tour takes over three hours and involves a range or terrain including steep cobbled street and a long dirt track. Not too much is on the actual roads.
We visited a number of lfilming locations including the park where they sing Doh Rey Mi, the abbey where Maria really was a nun and the building used as the Von Trapp home. One lady was playing some of the songs on a portable speaker so we could sing along as we rode.
It really was fun despite the weather and getting quite dirty on the track that was full of puddles. Seeing such familiar places for real is exciting. Of course we took lots of photos. The weather did improve later as we saw more of this historic town.
I had been thinking I would do some running on this trip, but there has not been a lot of time for that and we walk a lot anyway. There is a local parkrun, but it is a fair distance away and the weather for tomorrow looks to be wet again, so I may skip it.

What a beautiful experience. The ponchos are very useful although not very aesthetic. I have one. I think I'll have to put it on hand now that the rainy season is starting. Wow, the app marks you a pretty steep slope. Still, it looks like it was all worth it. Regards @steevc

Haha at "I shouldn't make commercial" :D Maybe something to worry about when you have more youtube subscribers! Quite interesting content though, these things should get more subs on there and here.

Funny to know how many calories you burn :) Cycling is one of the best ways to travel in my opinion.
Well we have been eating well, so needed to burn some. It wasn't too strenuous.
That's funny that your tour guide was from the US. Over here we tend to get a lot of workers in tourist towns that are from the UK and Europe.
Her parents were from Germany, so she was almost a local.

I took running kit, but it just didn't work out. The weather was not encouraging, but there was an ultra marathon there with people running in the rain. I think they do over 100km with 5000m of climbs!
An Alps Ultra would be unbelievable. I am interested to follow your European destinations and eurorail trip. We are trying to plan something for next year.
