Biden - Trump Debate
In a debate meant to showcase their visions for America's future, President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump instead left viewers questioning their fitness for office. Biden’s performance, marked by stumbles and moments of confusion, moments that I believed he had a stroke , has amplified concerns about his health and ability to serve a full term if re-elected. This has led to a ripple of unease within the Democratic Party, with increasing calls for him to step down.
The reaction within the Democratic Party has been swift and pointed. Behind closed doors, party leaders are expressing serious doubts about Biden’s capacity to continue his campaign. The whispers have turned into conversations, with some suggesting that it might be time for a new candidate to step forward. This sentiment is not just among fringe members but includes high-ranking officials and influential party strategists.
If Biden were to step down, several candidates are poised to take the mantle. Vice President Kamala Harris is a natural choice, given her current position and visibility. However, her popularity is mixed, and some Democrats are looking elsewhere. Governors Gavin Newsom of California and Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan have both been mentioned as strong contenders. Senator Bernie Sanders, despite his age, remains a beloved figure among progressives, while younger voices like Pete Buttigieg could inject fresh energy into the campaign.
The Mechanics of Stepping Down
Should Biden decide to step down voluntarily, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) would organize a special session to nominate a new candidate. However, if he refuses and his health continues to deteriorate, the process becomes murkier. The 25th Amendment allows for the President to be removed if deemed unfit, but this requires the Vice President and a majority of the Cabinet to agree—a highly unlikely scenario given the political fallout.
If Biden remains steadfast, the DNC could theoretically withdraw its support, but this would lead to unprecedented chaos and almost certainly hand the election to the Republicans.
So the decision Biden's and his alone, maybe Obama can help change his mind.
I also read that he was preparing with performance enhancer drugs and rest for at least a week to be able to perform.
Trump
Not to be outdone in the underwhelming performance department, Trump also failed to impress. His debate strategy seemed less about presenting a coherent vision and more about rehashing grievances and launching personal attacks on Biden. Trump’s performance was described by some of his own advisors as lackluster and erratic, doing little to reassure voters who are weary of his combative style. His only plan was to make America great again with no actual plan and a lot of lies.
The 2024 presidential race is shaping up to be a contest between two candidates who both have significant flaws. With wars raging and geopolitical tensions at an all-time high, the world is watching in dismay as the United States grapples with a choice between a potentially ailing president and a former president beset by legal troubles and divisive rhetoric.
Despite Biden's administration having some significant achievements, his apparent frailty is a huge problem If the Democrats cannot unify behind a strong alternative, and if Trump remains the GOP’s choice, the nation faces a grim prospect, a leadership crisis at a time when strong, decisive action is needed more than ever.
P.S While I was writing this post Biden said that ‘I don’t debate as well as I used to’ . We are FUCKED.

The two candidates are probably not fit, I mean Biden and Trump. However, Biden's health situation is just like that of the president of Nigeria. They both have ailing health, but don't deem it necessary to resign for the betterment of the nation they serve. Unless Biden suffers a major hit, I don't think he'll likely stop down
Who on earth is keeping him in there? His pride or you think there is someone encouraging him to continue on? I can't imagine than an 80 year old would want to live like that for another 4 years. Homie needs to go home and play golf (or just watch tv) and have a nap or two like most 80 year olds...
Unfortunately these people think they're going to be immortal because of the wealth and power they have, hence I don't think Biden is going to step down
Well he wants to die as president probably 😂
Why on earth are they taking so long to decide it's time for him to step down? He's been deteriorating for a while now and everyone has been able to see it. I can't believe the US could only find these two "worthy" candidates. I mean, there are independents, but.... I only watched about 10 minutes of the debate as I live in Panama and really don't feel one way or the other about who wins, but boy, it was tough to watch. 😂
Yes it was a horrible performance and I hope they make him step down
I am in the midst of several family crises, but at the moment this one tops all. He has to move aside. What kind of vanity makes someone cling to power, at the cost of legacy and patriotic duty? Where is his family? Why do they not step in and do the necessary?
We take the car keys away from an elderly person when that time comes (my time may not be long off for that--I'm ready). Why can't we take the nomination away from this man?
Harris will not do. Country is not behind her. Newsom will not do--too California, too associated with liberal causes for the mainstream. Butigeg--country is not ready for a gay president. Wrong year to roll the dice on that one.
Whitmer still has the gender deficit... can't roll the dice on that one, either. We need a mainstream, non-risk candidate with broad-based popular appeal. Certainly not a septuagenarian (I am a septuagenarian).
How about Hakim Jeffries? Although we need him in the House, he would be wonderful. True leadership qualities. Brilliant on his feet. Or even Joe Manchin. Not one of my favorite politicians, but he would pull in conservative votes and maybe take West Virginia for Democrats--Trump country.
We need to be creative in selecting a replacement, and we need to do it soon.
Wow, did you get an answer to this post. You can see I am almost distraught by the predicament my country (the world) is in.
A woman might do the job and win over trump especially if she is someone strong and energetic. I also believe that Harris will make it easier for trump. From what I am reading they are saying that Biden wanted to retire and his wife made him run again.
His wife talked him into it !!!!! OMG
Harris would be better than Biden, but I think my country still is not where it ought to be with women's rights. A lot of resentment at the advancement women have made (I am a strong feminist). She would have that to work against. We just have to get Biden to move aside. Anyone else would have a better chance, I think.
Both very weak individuals, but the world is begging for Trump because they cannot afford to have another 4 years of Biden. America is viewed as weak and probably the weakest it has been in my lifetime.
I believe that Biden did an excellent job in foreign affairs. Under Trump, the US was absent from every major event, which set the stage for the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The dollar is the strongest it has been in decades. Unemployment is at historic lows. Inflation was bad, but compared to what happened in Europe, the US did a better job. He messed up on immigration. But he won’t be able to do the job, so he has to step down.
I think what he has achieved is debatable at best and has let the country and it's people down because the migrant problem is a catastrophe. His leadership was non existent and weak and why thigs are happening all around the world. Lets hope if he does step down there is a better candidate to replace him or we are going to see more of the same.
Great format with the turned off mics. Was expected RFK jr.. How did they keep him off the stage? He would have wiped them both up. The perfect candidate, in my opinion, except for his Zionist leanings.
Well he has the name and that is a big plus. But aside from his crypto stance I don’t know much about his agenda
Looks like both Biden and Trump are really struggling to convince people they're up for the job. Biden's health issues are a concern, and Trump isn't offering much new. We need better options, fast. But if I had to choose between the two I think Trump is for crypto and that's the only reason I would prefer
I have not voted for a mainstream candidate in a long, long time, but to me even the alternate party candidates all suck. You're right. We are fucked.
At least the president is really not what runs the country. We have to clean out other problems to fix what's wrong here.
Keep up the good work. 👏🎵
