About Time
Tim learns from his father that he has the ability to travel through time, and he decides to use this power to meet a girl and finally get into a relationship!
The story seems simple on the surface but is complex in execution.
At first, Domhnall Gleeson (the protagonist) isn’t good with women—he’s shy and unlucky (cue his epic attempt to get together with the not-so-famous-at-the-time Margot Robbie). When his father (the PERFECT Bill Nighy) reveals that he can travel to a specific moment in the past and change things for the benefit of himself or someone else, everything changes. He meets Rachel McAdams (beautiful as always and incredibly sweet), but due to one of his "trips," she’s never actually met him! After they eventually meet again, their shared journey begins.
The film isn’t just about a couple’s relationship—it’s about their journey through time, their families, their wedding, their children, and the challenges they face.
The cast is what makes the difference: Nighy is touching and funny, the protagonist’s uncle is just as charming, his grumpy roommate, McAdams’ friend, the protagonist’s mother—and of course Rachel McAdams herself. Let’s just agree that she’s the best actress for romantic roles and an overall talented actress (which really shows in this movie).
A funny, touching, romantic film with an amazing script and direction by Richard Curtis, the creator of Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994), Notting Hill (1999), and Love Actually (2003). Also, it’s not a fantasy film, even if the plot might suggest so.
Big bonus: the soundtrack. Both it and the movie rank among the top romantic films and soundtracks ever.
There are several scenes that will make you tear up, and it also includes the best wedding scene in any movie. A powerful reminder to live each day like it’s our last—because time travel isn’t easy...
what a cool power to have. I think he used it good, 🤔☺️😉
