When everyone else is running away from danger, they run into it.

One of the first social lesson learnt in our school days is to reach out to the emergency numbers whenever we find ourself in trouble. Every country issued a set of easy dialling number that a person can easily remember. While 911 is a popular in US, we in India use 100 for police, 101 for fire fighters, 102 for ambulance etc. There are various distress numbers for all kind of situation. They are the first set of responders whom to reach at times of emergency. These responders are equipped as well trained to face all kind of situation. They are available round the clock and and taje action with the first call. They aim to reach the destination within time and to avoid as little casuality as possible.

First responders are highly trained people who are among the first to arrive at an emergency or disaster to provide care and first aid to those in need. These people includes, law personal, fire fighters, medical services providers etc. They have certain priorities to look for and it includes :

  • Ensuring the safety of the individual at the casuality site.
  • Rescuing injured people if any
  • Securing the incident scene and to avoid cresting any mess or disturbances.
  • *Isolating the area and denying entry of outsiders.
  • Ensuring the safety of the people and environment

We might have seen many instances dialling the emergency number and help reach at you in no time. These personal are a critical component of preparing for, responding to, and recovering from a disaster. I never been to any major accident site to recall the real services of these professional. In few instances I reach out to ambulance services and they provided the best of their services.

encountering lifeguard services

Just like we have so many experinced professional to deal woth emergency y, we have set of #lifeguard around the beaches or pools. They are the first person to reach out to in case of emergency. They are the person who monitors and protects swimmers and other water sports participants from drowning at beaches, pools, water parks, rivers, lakes etc. Last year, I had an expeeinces dealing with one of them and really missed of.

last year during our visit to puri beach, me and my cousin pulled out a floating body from the water. We were in panic as we wanted to save the guy from dying. It was noon time, and we were desperstely looking for beach life guards. They were suppose to be present at every beach to deal with such emergency. But to my surprise, there were none at that time. We tried our best to pukk the sick guy to life. But in desperation we were too looking for the #lifeguards. It was after 15 - 20 minutes that voice was heard and a person who calls himself lifeguard reach the spot. He quickly took the body on his shoulder and start running towards nearby hospital.

It was one of the odd moment in my life when I dealt with one kind of the first responders. But with my experince I can say, they were not equipped properly. After wat hing #baywatch series, I had a good perception about these life saver at beach. But my encounter with them making me change it. Neither the guy has the floating tyres or other safety item neither he cared to give CPR to the deceased. Also the way he carry the body did not looks good.

It was bad experince dealing with them. I wanted to look out for their supervisors, but noone was available to take a feedback. I feel pity looking at their services which makes me not to trust m their services anymore.

This is my Day-4 entry to Inleo Writing prompt for the m/o May.

Peace!!

I have not had to see such cases, but I do see lifeguards on the beaches, even though the beach areas are very large. The ambulances here are very busy all the time.

Such things like what happened to you make one not trust ...

It is frustrating when help is needed and they are not available. Lifeguards are trained by their management with the basic first-aid but if they are just lifeguards on that day or part timers most likely they do not know the trade and it is a traumatic experience if ever.

I never had such experience but most of the time in our place when calling help using or hotlines,it takes forever for someone to pick up the phone and if someone will answer the disaster is already extreme thus most of the time, people are using their mobile device and upload / create a live fee to show the real time experience.
