Issue of Mind over Matter : Age is just a number!

Every now and then, we comes across the news of relationship that exist between two individuals with major gaps in there ages. Weather it be reel-life of real-life the love relationship does not know any boundary. Be it geographical or social or even the age differences. A young girls falling in love of aged person or vice versa is getting normal day by day. It has alwsys been a topic of discussion. No matters what, people alwsys take interest in such relationship. They alwsys question the success of such relationship. Most of them belive that they may fail in few years. However in my opinion, the success of a relationship depends more on whether partners share similar values, goals, and beliefs, and can support each other and resolve problems constructively.

A relationship can be defined as a set of emotions and behaviors that include intimacy, passion, and commitment. It can also involve care, closeness, protectiveness, attraction, affection, and trust. Some say that love is an essential physiological drive, rather than an emotion. The phrase "love has no boundaries" can have multiple meanings:

  • Some say that love is a universal language that can transcend romantic gestures and take many forms. For example, the "Love Knows No Boundaries" campaign highlights different types of bonds, such as between seasoned couples, to show how love can break conventional boundaries.
  • Others say that love does have boundaries and that healthy relationships need them. Boundaries can help you feel safe, deepen your relationship, and communicate your needs and expectations to your partner. Without healthy boundaries, relationships can become toxic and unsatisfying, and your well-being can suffer.

  • Some claim that "love has no boundaries" is a mantra of the homosexist lobby, who believe that the "love" they speak of is not real love.

Embracing the difference.

Age is usually not as important as other factors in a relationship, such as shared values, goals, and commitment. However, age can be a significant issue in some relationships, especially when there is a large age gap between partners. For example, age can be a factor when considering things like retirement age. Age difference in relationships can present challenges, but it doesn't necessarily predict a relationship's success. In fact, some studies suggest that couples with an age gap may report greater trust, commitment, and satisfaction than similar age couples. However, age gaps can lead to issues like:

  1. Retirement, career development, and midlife crises can become more common with age.

  2. There may be disapproval from family, friends, or the community.

  3. It might be difficult to relate to each other's peers.

  4. There can be a difference in power between partners.

Research suggests that in many cultures, an age gap of 1–3 years is ideal, but some say that relationships with an age gap of less than 10 years can be more satisfying. However, numbers don't always tell the whole story, and it's possible to have a successful relationship with a large age gap. For example, some people make age gap relationships work by focusing on their partner's personality instead of their age.

Like a fine wine!

Age gap relationships can have some benefits, such as increased happiness, emotional maturity, and personal growth. One study found that women reported higher relationship satisfaction in age gap relationships compared to same-age relationships. Here are some tips for navigating an age gap in a relationship:

Accept differences: Recognize that differences exist and find ways to complement each other.

Communicate openly: Communicate regularly and address insecurities together.

Make future plans: Discuss big life decisions calmly and make plans for the future.

Focus on love: Prioritize your love story and lean into mutual interests.

Treat each other as equals: Treat each other with kindness and respect.

Compromise: Learn to compromise and work through challenges.

There's no specific age to start a relationship, as it depends on individual emotional maturity and sense of responsibility. One study suggests that marital satisfaction decreases more for couples with a larger age gap. Couples with a zero to three-year age gap may have greater satisfaction than those with a four to six year gap. A rule of thumb to define the best age is to define the minimum age of a partner as half your age plus seven, and the maximum as your age minus seven times two. Another important lesson is to respect and enjoy life.

Peace!!

Reading this article made me think a lot about relationships, love, and age gaps. I agree that a relationship is based on emotions and behaviors like intimacy, passion, and commitment. Love is complex and can feel like a basic need rather than just an emotion. In the end, the success of any relationship, with or without an age gap, depends on the people involved. By focusing on love, respecting each other, and being willing to compromise, couples can build strong, lasting bonds. Respecting and enjoying life together is what truly matters. I still believe in the phrase "love has no boundaries" :) great article!

When there is respect for each other any relation can survive for longer time. Age is just a number, when they build a string emotions and feeling it will get gard to negate.

I love your article. The time you took in explaining everything.

It has always been a topic of discussion. No matters what, people always take interest in such relationship.

This is very true. Many we talk but what I love is that when the relationship is rooted in true love, no amount of controversy can hinder the relationship.

I really liked the last part, respect and love. I think there is no age, because a couple can be the same age but not be a good relationship depends on many other factors such as the maturity of each other's soul. I loved the topic!

I think, redpect and love are to crucial for sustaining a relation apart from faith and trust. If we respect each other other, no relation can get spoiled.

There's no specific age to start a relationship, as it depends on individual emotional maturity and sense of responsibility.

Nowadays, we even hear of a 16 yr old, 15 yr old in a relationship. Can it be stopped? No.
But if given to date your choice, it is expected that in the relationship you get to know if this person has a sense of responsibility, emotional maturity or tick your checklist.

Asides being in love, other things are considered too

Thank you for sharing, @steemflow
