Infusing food with mood !

Indian culture is based on many beliefs. One such belief is about cooking food. It has been assumed that cooking food in bad mood doesn't give us the necessary nutrients , while food cooked in good and happy mood always nourishes us. This is what I learnt, when I went on to attend a 'shradh today.

Shradh, also spelled Shraddha or Shradh, is a Hindu ritual performed to honor and pay respects to deceased ancestors. It is a way for Hindus to express gratitude and love towards their ancestors, acknowledging the debt owed for their existence and lineage. It is a complete process that involves 13 day the deceased soul departed. The thirteenth day is suppose to be a meal day. The thirteenth day meal, also known as mrityu bhoj or thirteenth day meal, is a religious ritual performed in Hinduism on the 13th day after death . On this day, the family of the deceased feeds their relatives, friends and Brahmins. It is believed that the thirteenth day meal is served for the peace of the soul of the deceased and liberates him from the ghost world.

However, many of the aged person belive that, one should not eat food on the thirteenth day because it is the food of sorrow and eating it gives negative energy. As the food made with sorrow and grief mood, the food is not good for the health. Even I have noticed it multiple times that eating such foods makes me feel constipation or bloating. Although the food is quite normal as per the Indian kitchen. Similar foods were cooked during any religious gathering and such foods were easily digestible.

It is very strange to believe that a similar food items gives two different types of energy. Food cooked on any religious ocassion, often made with joyful and happy mood. Making the food a savour for all the attendees. Any religious and happy ocassion involves a good mood and food cooked alwsys tastes better. At the same time, it get easily digestive. But similar food made on any grief and sorrow does alwsys makes us feel heavy. Some believe that emotions are a form of energy that can be transferred to the food being prepared. This idea suggests that cooking with negative emotions like anger or sadness can imbue the food with that negativity, potentially impacting the experience of those who eat it.

After experinceing all kind of food that we eat, i can only conclude that, emotions play a complex and multifaceted role in food choices and eating behaviors. Understanding the connection between emotions and food can be crucial for developing healthy eating habits and maintaining overall well-being.

In good faith - Peace!!

Food is not just physical nourishment, but it carries messages and emotions. So it might be wise to pay attention to our mood when we prepare food.

This is true, but I believe it's the cook/chef that matters. If the cooks is pouring his heart out to that food is going to be tasty, but if the assistant does the same following the same receipe there is still a difference.

I read it somewhere the food also accumulate the emotions or the negativity fromthe surrounding. I am not sure how much of its is true but I 💯% believe that the chef's intents matter.

I've never heard of food being imbued like that with good flavors or bad flavors. I do know that when I am stressed, I tend to eat more. In that way I definitely think that food is tied to feelings.
