Golden dreams are made of precious jewelry. [Gold purchase for wedding]
Gold rate in India is soaring very high. It is same in the global economy as well. But still the demand for gold and gold ornaments is not declining. These days were the wedding season in India and many people are buying gold without any fuss. They are buying all kind of ornaments, be it the bride or the groom. There is no stopping bar. As the wedding days is nearing in my home, we too went on to buy certain gold for the groom and list is heavy. Looking at the item, It seems the groom need some additional fingers to wear the rings.
Gold is deeply ingrained in Indian culture, representing wealth, prosperity, and good fortune. Indians purchase gold at weddings due to a blend of cultural, religious, and economic reasons. Gold is seen as a symbol of wealth, prosperity, and purity, and is associated with the goddess Lakshmi in Hindu tradition. While gifting gold to the bride is age old tradition but now the groom too is getting advantage. Gold rings and chain has been preferred as good gifting option. All these items were part of the gifting to the groom. While the chain looks quite heavy weight with 25 grams , it cost a lot and so does the different rings. I am fascinated by the different rings, that were bought for gifting by differrnt family members.
Gold is gifted to the groom as a symbol of prosperity, blessings, and a prosperous future. Gold is a valuable asset that can hold its value over time, offering a practical and enduring gift for the groom. Earlier times, the gifts were limited to bronze utensils, but with changing lifestyle, the people preference has shifted to Gold. All the above rings were gifted to the groom the bride family member. In addition, there were few more in list that were due from the bride maternal home. I am expecting a no less than 12 rings on the wedding day. I keep you posted on this. In addition to all the gold ornaments, we also purchase a wrist watch for the groom.
These bill of all these item is mind boggling. We made the purchase from a local genuine gold retailer that offers us some discount on the making charge. Still the rate is close to 100,000 INR. The rising price have taken a toll, still people are ready to buy expensive gifts for social status. They wanted the would be son-in-law to be a prince.
Happy family, happy time, costly gifts.
In good faith- Peace!!

Wow, those are some impressive pieces! I don't think I own too much gold besides the ring that I wear on my hand and whatever my wife has. Most all of it is white gold, not the traditional yellow gold.
The groom is getting lucky with all these pieces and more...in wedding Yellow gold is always in demand.
I guess so! That's impressive!

And that make me wonder how much gold would a typical middle class Indian family own? I didn't find the answer yet but all households are quoted to have a total between 21,000 and 23,000 tons. Another tidbit is Indian women own 11% of the world's gold. That's 24,000 tons gold I'm sure in jewelry, triple the USA's reported gold reserves. The Ladies know their gold.
