From the natural world to the world of fashion: Booming Textile Industry

Every events in life alwsys get us some interesting learning. My visit to #bharattex expo was nob less than a surprise turn of events. I went to the textile expo, without any plan. It was just a casual walk to the expo which introduces me to many new textile concepts. From yarns, to printing, to fibres to threads. There were so many take away from the expo. The expo was generally organised every year for the promotion o textile industry within India and abroad. The best things that I learned and the main focus of the expo event was the 5-F. At first I was not aware too but it dedines a complete cycle of farm to foreign.

It was first time ever visit to the event. And in no way it was related to me or my expeeince. But I was fascinated to learn something about textile. And when I made it to the the expo, I was surprised to visit a clothing capsule in an auditorium. This capsules happens to be to the limelight of the event. Very colorful and made up of threads, was actually a mini 3d theatre. It was showing a 5 min movies, based on the concept of 5-F. I was not aware untill it made it inside the capsule. It was quite a good experince. The 5-F stands for Farm to fibre; fibre to factory; factory to fashion; fashion to foreign.

The 5F textile policy, or the "5F" Formula, is a vision of our Prime Minister that aims to connect the textile value chain through the following five elements: farm, fiber, factory, fashion, and foreign. The policy is intended to help the textile sector grow and make India a global hub for textile manufacturing and exports. The PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) scheme is inspired by the 5F vision and aims to build an Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

The textile industry in India is one of the country's oldest and most important industries. The textile industry is responsible for the design, production, and distribution of textiles, such as yarn, cloth, and clothing. Raw materials are transformed into yarn, then woven or knit together to make fabrics. These fabrics are used to create products like clothes, blankets, carpets, curtains, and mats. And then it was expected to be exported to foreign land that generate revenue.

The cumulative exports of textiles and apparel from India during April 2023-March 2024 registered a staggering $34.4 billion.

Looking at the bright prospect, the event was pushing efforts to make the 5F model a successful for all the attending entrepreneurs. Many textile manufacturer attended the event and were very excited to be part of the government initiatives. For me it was a good learning by discovering the 5F.
