Family planning is the ability to decide when and how many children to have, and to space out pregnancies. It can be achieved through the use of modern contraceptives or natural techniques, and can also include infertility treatment. Family planning can help reduce poverty, promote gender equality, and empower women. It can also prevent pregnancy-related health risks for women, especially adolescent girls, and can save lives by reducing the number of abortions and complications during pregnancy and childbirth. Family planning, which is the process of deciding when or if to have children, can have many benefits:
1. Health : Family planning can help prevent pregnancy-related health risks for women, especially adolescent girls. It can also help reduce the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and maternal and infant health problems. Spacing births can also help mothers recover physically and emotionally before getting pregnant again.
2. Finances : Family planning can help people avoid economic hardship and ensure they can afford to take care of the number of children they have. Limiting the number of children in a family can also mean more resources for each child.
3. Social : Family planning can help people avoid relationship dissolution and physical abuse. It can also increase the involvement of partners in decisions about pregnancy.
4. Education : Delaying having children can give people the opportunity to complete education or further studies.
Objectives
Family planning in India is a key part of the government's public health agenda. It aims to help people decide when and if to have children, and to prevent pregnancy through a variety of methods. Family planning can also help to reduce fertility, slow population growth, and improve the health of women. Some of the objectives of India's family planning program include:
Giving eligible couples information and guidance on family planning methods and services
Training health workers to provide high-quality family planning services.
Using mass media campaigns to promote awareness and education on family planning..
Providing free contraceptives through public health facilities.
Family planning methods include a wide range of contraceptives, such as pills, implants, intrauterine devices, surgical procedures, and barrier methods like condoms.
Birth control System in India
Birth control is generally accepted in India. The cultural patterns do not poses barriers to birth control programs. In fact, some say that many villagers understand that larger families can lead to poorer economic and physical health.
Many people believe that having more children than the environment can support violates the code of Ahimsa, or nonviolent conduct. However, the doctrine is flexible, and most decisions are based on motivation and intention. Many people also views the decision to use contraception as a personal matter for women, and the concept of liberty is central to the religion. As a result, majority of the indian population currently use a family planning method.
India's contraceptive practices tend to favor terminal methods like sterilization, which is often used for birth limitation rather than birth planning. Intrauterine devices (IUDs) are the most widely accepted method of contraception in India, followed by use of condoms.
