A break is definitely deserved : Getting the focus back!

Last year one of my nephew took a drop / break from his regular studies and devoted the entire time in preparing for the #engineering competitive exams. Getting an admission in the prestigious colleges of India has becomes very competitive. It requires a lot of hard work and deep understanding of the courses to get through. Taking a drop / break has becomes a trend among the students. This was not followed before but now looking at the competitiveness this becomes a normal practice. Many students have switching to this system so that they get admission in colleges of higher rank that will help them building and shaping the career. Fortunately, my nephew succeed this year in getting admission in one of the recognized engineering institute after the drop and preparing for the exams.

A drop year allows students to eliminate the distractions of regular schoolwork and dedicate their entire time for preparation. This focused approach enables deeper understanding of concepts, more effective revision, and the ability to tackle challenging topics. Students often opt for a drop year to dedicate themselves fully to preparing for the competitive exam, aiming for a better score and increased chances of admission to prestigious engineering colleges. This decision is driven by the highly competitive nature of the exam and the desire to optimize their preparation strategy. The decision to take a drop year is a personal one that requires careful consideration of individual circumstances, strengths, weaknesses, and motivations. A drop year can provide a much-needed break from the intense academic pressure of the final year of school, allowing for mental and emotional rejuvenation, which is crucial for performing well in a competitive exam.

Refresh & Regroup

We can look this aspect, from a different angle too. We often require a break from daily life schedule to rejuvenate the mood and mind. We may have seen in movie too have 'intervals' in between. During the short intervals, people do many things to relax themselves either they use washroom, had water, have some snacks or do some leg stretching and once the interval is over, they get back to their seats to continue watching the movies again. That short interval help the audience to regroup and refresh. Likewise, taking regular breaks is crucial for maintaining both physical and mental well-being, enhancing productivity, and preventing burnout. Breaks allow the mind and body to rest and recharge, leading to improved focus, increased creativity, and better stress management. Be it our regular studies or work or life. When I was at work, I used to take small vreaks in between the work and also sometimes goes out for a short trip during the weekend. Although it may appears to be sign of laziness, but it helps.me to get rid of the stress and work pressure. Many colleagues often consider them as sign #procrastination. But there is a difference, A break is a planned period of rest or relaxation, while procrastination is the act of delaying tasks, often with negative consequences. The key difference lies in intent and the potential for negative outcomes.

In my nephew case, he was weak in #physics subject, his basics was not enough for the exams. Without improving this subject, there is no logic to appear directly in the competitive exams. Similarly, a drop year in studies allows students to identify their weak areas and work on them specifically, which might not have been possible with the time constraints of regular studies. Although, this has becomes a trend, but it should be noted that , A drop year doesn't guarantee success, and unforeseen circumstances or lack of discipline can impact the outcome. A drop year can incur additional expenses for coaching, study materials, and living costs.

However, before getting directly into taking a gap or drop studies, one needs to carefully weigh the pros and cons, consider their individual circumstances, and make a choice that aligns with the goals and aspirations.

In good faith - Peace!!

If you don't take a break, you would definitely break down. No matter what one does, it's good to take a break

Rather than making a monotonous life, it good to reconsider it by taking a break...simply an easy way to look from a different perspective
