Propolis - das Hive-gepowerte Web3 Wiki

english, please scroll down

Propolis

Du?

Call to Action!

Was meint Ihr dazu?

Dear Hivians,

There has been a brandnew wiki based on the Hive Blockchain for about 3 weeks now! It's called Propolis and can be accessed at: https://propol.is/.

What is a Wiki?

Wiki (short for Wikiwiki or Wikiweb) comes from the Hawaiian word for "quick" and is a web software that allows pages to be created and edited by multiple authors/users on the web (1). The basic idea is collaborative work on texts, sometimes supplemented with photos or other media, often with the goal of making the authors' knowledge available to all internet users. The most well-known wiki is, of course, the online encyclopedia Wikipedia, which is based on the open-source software MediaWiki (2).
The first wiki was created back in 1995, almost 30 years ago!

The name comes from the Greek word propolis (pro = "for", polis = "city"). Propolis is also a product of hardworking bees, which they often use as a sealant, hence also called bee glue(3). A fitting name for a wiki based on Hive, isn´t it! Every article in Propolis is a main post (not a comment) on Hive, from the account @propolis.eng, regardless of the author. Follow it to witness in real-time the growth of our wiki!

There are already other wikis about Hive, for example, https://hive-learn.wiki/de/home, but as far as I know, they are not decentralized and blockchain-based.

You can find more information about the technical details of Propolis here.

The final logo was created by @wlffreitas and, in my opinion, it turned out really well, with a loose reference to Hive but not heavily branded as Hive (because Propolis is more than just a Hive promotional page).
image.png

Aim

Propolis aims to be not only a central hub of knowledge for all things related to Hive, but also a true, censorship-resistant Web3 encyclopedia! The standards of a wiki should be upheld: high quality articles, statements backed by reliable sources, and neutrality! The Web2 version, Wikipedia, has significant shortcomings in the latter aspect, and Propolis aims to do better! Therefore, the articles about Hive should also remain neutral and not only present the advantages from a marketing perspective.

Various language versions are planned for the future, but for now, Propolis is only available in English.

Team

Propolis was founded by @pharesim (first introduction on Hive on May 8, 2024, here), and later joined by @godfish, myself, @ctrpch, @wagnertamanaha, @hivetrending, @jfuji, @nikv and others.
The list will (hopefully) continue to grow, and you could be the next addition to the team! You can track the latest changes at https://propol.is/activity.

Who is the next in the team? You?

Call to Action!

Anyone can join! The only requirement is a Hive account and (currently) proficiency in the English language. If you're interested, you can receive editor rights on the Propolis-Discord . In Keychain, you can then add the @propolis.eng account (under "accounts" > "add account") with the "use authorized account" option (where "user name" = propolis-eng and "authorized account" is your Hive account), and you're ready to go! There are still many blank pages to fill, for example, who would like to describe Splinterlands?

Please note that when writing/editing, always use the Propolis website itself and not any of the Hive frontends! This is the only way to include the necessary metadata into the wiki. Failure to comply will result in automatic removal of editor rights (via script). Also, when using external links to Hive posts, always use the hive.blog frontend (that was also a learning curve for me, as I always link to peakd 😃), because hive.blog, although it has fewer features, is open source, and it would be confusing for newcomers if we always linked to different frontends.

You can find more tips on how to write a Propolis page here.

There is also a contest called "Editor of the Week" that grants 25 HBD per week, first winner is @wagnertamanaha, congratulations!

What do you think? Are you interested in participating? I will reward diligent authors with more upvotes, that much I can already reveal.

Hi,

If you make a comment, then check at least the tags. This post was definitely not about the health aspects of propolis.

Sorry about that, I believe my translation of it was the problem.. I apologize

Had nothing to do with the translation. Its simply a thing that happens when one needs to put out 80-100 comments a day 🤷‍♀️

No I meant because it's a whole other language I wanted to show my support to his blog that's why ... Since that's the case I'll avoid making comments on those that are not interested in seeing me.. I'm just trying to be active and engage that's all. I also apologized to him for that as well

Yes but you cannot reply to a post you havent read? Anyway this was just my opinion, my thoughts and I saw you apologized. No problem with for me.

Yh I absolutely understand that.. that's why I'll avoid the languages either than English 👌

I think one can also overdo it. You don´t have to comment on everything. It appears not only weird, but also not honest. Just my impression.

Now that you mentioned it new friend, I'm still a bit over a month old here and I've been motivated to engage and grow and make some friends that's why I'm consistent with commenting and engaging.. can I ask a question though....

Is there a limit to how many comments one must do everyday? And trust me I'm aware it needs to be quality engagement and comments to people's blogs... It only happened because it was a whole different language so I'll probably steer clear of those ones

There is no limit you can do whatever you want, coming back to Stayout's post.... Did you even see that it included an English translation?
Thats what I ment. IMO one cannot comment quickly to a post without reading it 😉 even more if its a whales post

Probably learned this as a valuable lesson on Hive... Thanks so much for the tips good new friend You've been helping... I have literally reading about the rules around engagement right this moment and it spoke on reading... I actually do read the blogs but I consider stayOut's post as foreign language without even scrolling... Thanks for the advice... I'll be reading more🥰🥰

Dont worry. Over time, as you will get more and real, deep friends here, you will see its impossible to read everything

Problem is that this post is in English, as beeber already pointed out.
You just shouldn't try to engage everywhere. Be real, say something you mean. Nobody likes fakers.

I think there's a misunderstanding somewhere, please check my other comments... @beeber there's a misunderstanding here and please you guys should look at all my activities... I really regret commenting this particular blog... And this is really the first time someone has used the F word on me online.. just me trying to explain how it happened has landed me here.. wow alright... I think I've already apologized and don't want to go through this again

Its okay, dont worry, just take it as "something I 've learned today". You have got some honest opinions, I think no one is angry with you.
No need to make a drama out of it and maybe we leave it as it was for the moment.

New friend you can check my activities, I'm very genuine with my actions... This was a mistake...👌 Still new trying to engage the right way and I've now learned a lot about engagement rules on Hive

what the fuck are you talking about rules?
You're replying to posts you don't even read, and each of your replies is begging for looking at your shit.
Just be a normal person. You won't make money here this way.

I love the idea. I love the fact that that there are always creative people around here who are not content with status quo but looking for growth. I don't have the confidence to participate now, but as the feature grows and as I become comfortable with my understanding of it, maybe I'll see a place where I can contribute. In any event, Congratulations!
