Nowadays, we can find almost every youth engrossed in social media, checking through contents both healthy and non-healthy ones, exploring through the world of social media and not often aware of the benefits and life-changing opportunities it offers to one's life but at the same time, when not consumed properly, it can also mar the life of a child.
This is why having social media as a course in high schools would be of great benefit to the lives of students and young ones. They would be aware of how to use social media to monetize their skills, learn the good sides of social media and how to avoid being involved in areas that does not add value to their lives.
If I were to be a teacher to take a course in social media, one of the topics I would pick is having a moral standard. Today, a lot of youths break their moral standard on social media because of what they tend to gain. They do not realise that things are not forgotten in the world of social media, and whatever they do immorally can come back to them in years to come. There have been many scenarios of people who have changed over the course of their lives, but what they did when they were younger on social media came back to them and ruin their lives, most especially their careers.
There are so many youths out there that are not aware of this and that is why you can find many of them doing a lot of immoral activities live on social media. You will find them creating contents that do not sell their skills and intellectual capabilities but instead contents that sell their body.
Another key aspect that I would focus on if I were to be a teacher for a social media course is to teach them how to sell themselves. When I say "sell themselves," I do not mean it in the bad way but in a good way. What I meant was to showcase their set of skills and value to the job market. Teach them how to run ads for their businesses, showcase their values and skills, and also monetize the contents they make. If a lot of them are aware of what they can do with social media as a tool, then they may probably not find themselves partaking in immoral activities just to earn a small amount of money that is not worth it.
So tell me, do you think having social media as a course in high school will be of good to students? Let me know what you think in the comment section below.
It will be of good use if they cab be taught to utilize social media in the right way.
yeah sure my brother
Immoral content placed on social media platforms is indeed one of the issues. This can affect future career prospects.
If students posts quality content which is appreciated - monetising it is definitely ones aspect which could be beneficial to them.
And many of the kids are not aware of the consequences.
Exactly the point!
I feel that there are many people in social media with ill mentality. Some popular social media give me a feeling of gathering of dirty people. I try to avoid them and I feel that those people need to know how to behave online.
