Happiness: A Choice, Not an Occurrence
We would all say we have been happy in one aspect of our lives, and some of those moments might peak while others may be at their lowest. Personally, I don't see happiness as something that occurs in my life when a favourable event occurs. When I say event, it could be us attaining our dream item, a surprise birthday gift, a promotion, a wedding, or anything you can think of.
I personally see happiness as a choice rather than an occurrence. I chose to be happy in what ever situation I find myself in. It might not be the best event in my life, but it is a choice I make.

It is quite difficult to make a choice to be happy when you are facing a challenge, but yet, it all boils down to how we look at the situation. It is more like saying don't be the situation you are facing, but be better, be above it, and make the choice to be happy no matter what.
It is easier to remain happy when you have gratitude, especially when you appreciate how far you have come, than to focus on what you don't have. I don't let my happiness depend on the things that happen to me, but on the things that have happened to me.
If the only time I experience happiness is from the events that take place in my life, I would most likely be ungrateful for what I don't have. I may even not see how much better my life is compared to that of others. I may not even notice that where I am at this moment are actually the prayers of other people, and most of all, I could die of envy when I see other people doing better than I am.
It is best to not let material possessions be the main reason for your happiness, because you would never truly be happy. So there is nothing I must have to be happy, but yes, there are things that, if I had them now, I would be happy, glad, and joyous, but that feeling is just for a brief moment. After a while, those things I have would become normal to me, and I would go back to being unhappy because I would have had a new set of needs and wants.
No one is truly happy if they do not learn to be appreciative of life, what they have in possession, and what they have achieved. They would be blind to the growth process they have been through and may eventually not see the path that awaits them due to their focus on things they don't have or things that their happiness depends on.
Moments that make me more Happier
As I said, I try to always be happy, always feel good about myself, and most especially do away with ingratitude in my life, but there are also moments or things that happen that increase how happy I am. And one of them is:
When I achieve a set of goals: This does not make me just feel happier, but it does make me feel fulfilled. I feel like I have a superhuman, more on top of the world. I always have this boost in self-esteem when I achieve my set of goals.
Overcome a challenge: There is this feeling I get when I overcome a difficult challenge. I get overly joyous and super happy, and I also get the same self-esteem boost as when I achieve a set of goals.
Buy a new Gadget: I love gadgets; name them: phones, earpods, smartwatches, laptops, and so on. Most of the things I have spent money on in my life are gadgets. I love testing out gadgets, reviewing them, and sharing my thoughts on my experience after using them.
Test out Restaurants and their foods: As a foodie who loves food so much. I get a lot of doparmine released when I see food before I eat it, especially when the food has a lot of chicken or turkey in it.
Hangout with friends and loved ones: I love when I get to meet friends and hang out together. I love it more when I go out on a date with my girlfriend. Those feelings are also great.
One last thing to mention: I get so happy when I see the price of Hive or any other token in my wallet pumps. I am happy when I make more money and when the money that lands in my wallet or account keeps increasing day by day.
If the question was asked, What are the things that make me happier than I already am?, then I would probably list one of the things here, if not even all of them.

Happiness is not in possession but in position! Where are your priorities. Setting wrong priorities will bring more sadness than happiness. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us
Exactly! I like the way you put it. Setting wrong priorities have a way to influence our happiness.
Indeed being happy should be a choice and not an occurrence, yes there are times when things happen that makes us happy but then those things can happen to some other persons and they might be sad about it.
As long as we have the mind that happiness is by choice, we have a greater chance of feeling happy most times
exactly! if we have that mindset, we would always be happy regardless of what happens to us.
Absolutely !
Awwwwww, what a wise word here...if I should tag some Vital points you mentioned here to talk about them, then each paragraph must receive a tag... happiness is indeed a choice and we choose to be happy amidst challenges or not...but then for this part, it becomes easier to remain happy when one is grateful for how far he has come. Feeling happy always is a lifestyle I cherish alot and strive to have it always even in my most difficult situation and that's why I usually create happiness by force even when I should be swimming in sadness.
The things you listed here make sense except the food part that got me laughing out loud 😂

Deep words. Our happiness should not be tied up to something or else when that thing is no more it may lead us into depression. No wonder the rate of depression in today's world is on increase daily and people go as far as taking their lifes which they never gave.
The last paragraph got smiling, when there is a pump everyone smiles.
Exactly the point, this leads to depression when our happiness is tied up to something.
When there is a pump, who will not smile khe, who doesn't like money?
Well said, happiness shouldn't be tied to a specific occurrence.
Sometimes we feel we have to hit it big before we can be happy.
Arghh guys and food!!
Food and gadgets always make you guys happy hahaha. It's always the little things that matter
Smiles, I have been in love with gadgets since I was little so it is not my fault oh and that food ehn.
Happiness is a choice, it doesn't matter the challenges you are facing. As long as you keep smiling, the challenges will step aside.
I remember when I watched a short video about a guy saying: if you can face your challenges, and smile through it then you have won life itself.
