A Solo Valentine: Self-Love, Good Food, and a Dash of Code

Two days ago was Valentine, and as someone who is back to being single, I decided to show love to the person that always will have my back no matter what or the situation I find myself in, and that is myself.

I have been working on a project, a hackathon, and I had been having some issues working on a particular feature for the application my team was building. I was meant to be the AI engineer guy for the team, but the backend guy was not responsive and went missing in action. So I had to take the backend and implement the feature needed for the application using FastAPI.

This post is not to talk about coding but how I spent my Valentine's Day, but it is very difficult not to talk about it because that is what I spent my day doing most of the time, aside from writing essays to apply for an AI program in a particular school.

I haven't gone out in a while and last Sunday, a new restaurant caught my eye and I thought to check it out one day. Valentine gave me the reason to go check it out, and I did not hesitate about it.

The reason why the restaurant caught my eye is because my best colour is blue with red, and also, I am a foodie. Having all this showcased on the body of the restaurant drew me to checking it out. Although I had earlier planned on going to another place, I had to check this out first.

The interior of the place was not bad. This is the view from where I took the pictures after settling. I like the interior; it makes a lot of sense, just that I don't like the chairs they used. They are not really comfortable for me and that is because I could not sit upright properly.

Then I went to check the meals they had available. On a normal day, I would have bought fried rice and jollof rice but it was something I eat very often so I decided to opt in for the ofada rice. I was surprised at the price they called two scoops of rice, which was for 2500 naira. Then I asked if they sell per scoop but they said no, that they only sell two scoops.

So I decided to go for the two scoops of ofada rice, two beef, and a chivita active. All that went for #6,000 naira total. I looked at my plate of food, chuk my head, paid for my meal and went to my chair to eat.

After then, I pulled out my system to continue working on my project for a while before I left. I was not satisfied with the food I ate because it was expensive and I was not filled. So I decided to visit another restaurant, and maybe another after that.

In the second restaurant, I went for grilled chicken and two portions of rice. Rice was sold for 400 naira per portion here and the grilled chicken was 3500 naira, which was a total of 4,300 naira. After eating this, I was more filled as compared to what I ate in the previous restaurant.

I had my PC setup on the table while I was eating. I was watching a video tutorial on how I could set up a website using stramlit. I was thinking of using it as the frontend for the project I was working on.

After I was done, I thought of going to another restaurant close by, but I was already filled, and I also thought of preserving the cash I had left with me, so I cancelled the idea of the third restaurant.

Overall, I enjoyed my Valentine with myself. It had been a while since I had gone out like this, and it would be something I would love to do more often with myself. It helps build my self-love and confidence.
