The Abandoned Mermaid

Poem and Illustration by: Jon Jun F. Ignacio

In the depths of the sea, a story untold,
Lies an abandoned mermaid, her spirit so bold.
Long forgotten by those who sail above,
Her voice silenced, a tale of lost love.

With shimmering scales and flowing hair,
She once graced the waves without a care.
Her enchanting voice would echo through the night,
Guiding sailors, bringing them delight.

But as time went on, her song grew weak,
No longer were there sailors she'd seek.
All alone, in her oceanic domain,
Her heart ached, consumed by pain.

Her once vibrant tail now faded and torn,
Her beauty hidden, her essence forlorn.
Her siren's call silenced and lost,
In this desolate sea, a tempest tossed.

Her glistening tears, like pearls they fell,
As she watched the world above, a distant swell.
Yearning for a touch, a love meant to be,
Yet all she found was an endless sea.

Her voice a whisper, carried on the breeze,
A haunting melody, impossible to appease.
She longed for a sailor, brave and kind,
To embrace her, and bring peace of mind.

But the world moved on, its attention elsewhere,
Leaving her stranded, in depths of despair.
Her voice grew feeble, her existence fleeting,
She became an abandoned mermaid, forgotten, receding.

The abandoned mermaid, lost in the hollow,
Watches as her dreams continue to follow,
Yearning for a love, a connection true,
In the depths of the sea, where her heart still brews.

So as you sail forth, on the waves so wide,
Remember the mermaid hidden, deep inside.
For she may be abandoned, but her spirit remains,
Whispering secrets, carrying love's refrains.

Its fins in rainbow colors draw waves of fantasy in the sailor eyes of love.

Beautiful poem of the ocean and the memorable fantasy being.
Thanks for sharing.
Good day.

This indeed illustrates a forgotten one. Despite her beauty, she was still abandoned even by those who were fond of her before. This shows that anything can happen to anybody at given time.

Great piece.
