Modern day medicine over native medicine
Local medicine used in healing diseases and sicknesses is what our forefathers relied on in the olden days, and it worked effectively for them. However, in recent times, the modern method, which involves the use of modern drugs, has taken over. It now appears as though the olden day method of using herbs is no longer valid, but that is not entirely true. A lot of people still believe in the effectiveness of native medicine in curing diseases and sicknesses, and in many cases, it still works very well.

I do not fall sick often, and the few times I have been sick, as I can remember from my childhood stage, I have mostly used modern medicine. This involves the intake of modern day drugs, whether in tablet form or syrup. If the sickness becomes more severe, then a syringe is used to inject the medicine directly into my bloodstream, which is the quickest way for the medicine to circulate throughout the body. This is what I'm told.
On the few occasions when I have been sick, I usually go to a pharmacy or a nearby chemist shop, describe the symptoms of the sickness to them, and drugs are prescribed and given to me to take. These drugs work very well for me, just after taking them, I start to feel the effect of relief within minutes.
However, I am sure that I was also given native medicines when I was little. This is because, back then and even now, when parents give birth to babies, as I have witnessed, there are some special native treatments that are considered necessary for the baby. This includes the application of certain native medicines to the placenta to aid healing. I am aware that there must be a modern medical approach to this practice, but while I was growing up, I saw newly delivered mothers apply native substances to the placenta. Also, there are some health challenges that are termed spiritual and are believed to require native medicine to tackle them effectively. This is one of the reasons why native medicine is still in use today.
The world has grown significantly, especially in this age of technology, and the modern pattern of treating sicknesses and diseases has come to overshadow the olden-day methods. I personally like this modern pattern because it is very convenient and works effectively. Sicknesses and diseases are diagnosed easily, and appropriate medication or injections are administered immediately as treatment, which often works perfectly. When it comes to surgeries, the modern method is far more professional compared to what was practiced in the past, even though some people are still using the old methods today.
