Whispers of a Tired Healer in the Stillness of 3:09AM
To one of those thousands of nights I am buried in thoughts of what may be and what may not ; pondering the ever greatest question faced by each and every one of we doctors that were and currently at my stage, question faced by every doctor who's ever been where I am now, What's Next After Housejob? Which pathway lies ahead for you?
It's a question we keep asking ourselves, one that never really gets a concrete answer until life after Housejob starts lifing and the reality starts hitting like a rock.
The funny thing is that explaining to a lay person always makes it difficult because the first response is always, > "Guy, you are a doctor!"
They say this because they believe that simply being a doctor makes everything falls in line for you... I won't fault them though, I for one, also had same dream and illusion.... until I finally got in.

You see! That's the crazy thing about studying medicine and surgery for six, seven and sometimes even nine years in some universities, it sells you an imaginary dream!
It makes you think that once you've bagged that certificate that everything automatically has been solved for but guess what? Just after the first year of clinical practice, even the blind is made to see that if you truly want money, this isn't the place for it or at least not in this country!
Well, it's so much frustration when the system you spent so many years investing in doesn't invest in you... That's injustice though but what can we do ?
So, here I am again this midnight 3:09AM, reminiscing over what to do to be a happy doctor.
You see, that's another fun fact with me, in as much as I want to have this money and I've also discovered that there is no money in clinical practice, I still love practicing medicine as it brings me so much joy seeing someone who was almost giving up walking out of the hospital in full health like nothing ever happened but then, I don't want to be that doctor who comes to work and transfers aggression to patients because of underpayment and other ill-mannered treatments Nigerian doctors are subjected to.
Some might ask why don't you want to explore the Japa route ( travelling out) but it's easier said than done right? Lol
It's always easy to ask why not explore that option until they let you in of what the financial requirements are... Currently the UK route cost minimum of ₦9–₦11 Million and that's the cheapest route, do the maths for other countries like USA and Canada, hehehe.

Well, buried in the nights, I might not find my answers to becoming a hybrid doctor but certainly one of these nights, when the mother earth is silent and the winds whisper to me through the darkest of hours, my answers cometh.
Until then.... We keep sending em letters out.
Shalom
Thanks for reading and have a nice day ahead 👍
Well, the medical field has become congested, a lot of young people want to be doctors, so to be able to thrive in that space, you have to distinguish yourself. You have to make yourself so good in your field that it's hard to ignore you.
You might consider going further in your field, like acquiring second and third degrees, and then you can consider migrating to a country where your talents will be better appreciated.
That's very true friend
Glad to do it
Thanks for the support
