This Wasn’t a Digital Detox, Life Just Got Loud
How long can you really stay off your phone or computers?
This has gone more than a rhetorical question anymore to a reality check, lol. First thing most persons do when they wake up is checking their phones and last thing they do before sleeping is checking their phones too, some even sleep on the phone, Wild times we're living in man, lol.
If I was asked this question as early as January this year, I would have gone at length giving you reasons why it can't even be possible, not even a thought how it will be, but fast forward to this day, I've definitely seen I can go days, not even hours without my phone and nothing will happen other than running around resuscitating patients and doing routine laboratory investigations to make sure all body system parameters are within normal limit. It never occurred to me that I could ever be in a situation where I will be this completely offline
No doubt, our phones are such invaluable gifts technology has given us. Not without subtly saying they have their pros and cons but well, what doesn't have one?
Phones have gone beyond the fundamental function of limiting communication gaps to solving basic human needs and currently becoming our closest buddy and companion. Phone has become so important that it's no longer a want but a need for every grown-up... So hard to say that someone who's phone got spoilt will starve the next day just to get the phone functioning optimally the next day and will be uncomfortable until function is fully restored, lol.
That being said, how long can we stay without this wonderful gadget of ours?
Answering this question definitely isn't as straightforward as you may think.... What if the phone is the source of livelihood for some persons because in this modern age, you obviously won't deny the fact that many persons work remotely using their phones so can you outrightly tell someone to stop working? Will you provide for the person's daily needs?😂
But well, personally, my work doesn't revolve around the gadget so I can answer affirmatively to the question. In fact, for people like me, it's always necessary to get off the phones for longer periods, lol. My teacher once told me that a doctor who picks his call every time isn't working in an ideal environment, initially, I thought it was all about the ego of being called a doctor and claiming to be busy-type lifestyle but then, I got into the profession and saw that was just an honest truth.
Picture is Mine
Most times you're in the middle of some medical procedures or trying to wrap your head around the most effective drug necessary for that patient and believe me, in the heat of them all isn't when you're comfortable enough to pick calls, so yes, disconnecting myself from the various ding dongs of notifications saves me lots of mental stress.
Is Our Reliance On Our Phones Not Concerning?
Again, it depends on what exactly you do with your phone because like I outrightly said before, The line between convenience and dependency has blurred.
If your phone is the main source of your livelihood, I don't think there's a limit to how long you should spend but then, if it's just for relaxation, then, you should definitely be able to go off your phone for two hours and save your life because life is tough out there fam! Hehehe
Until next time, stay safe man
Thanks for reading and have a nice day ahead 👍
Our connection with phones has been strong. We no doubt utilise them for our wellbeing. But they can bring dangerous impacts if we make frequent using without getting rest.
That's true, ranging from wasting our time down to health effects
That's true man as phone has become a source of livelihood it's becoming challenge stay away of it. But over dependence on phone is also very harmful.

No doubt, moderation is needed in all we need
Phone is actually a necessity these days for everyone. One just needs to use it right.
Exactly! Instead of fighting it, let's rather embrace it and maximise it
