Passenger's Sword from the Stone🎶 : A Message of Resilience...
Lately, life has felt like series of struggles here and there with the solutions almost not coming; troubles that all started when they gave birth to you without even your permission. It is as though everything is happening; falling apart, all at once.
In the quest of finding strength in these moments of struggle, I couldn't wait for the shuffle feature to do the selection magic in my playlist since I knew a perfect song to balance out my struggles because even the heaviest challenges can be overcome.... Passenger's "Sword From The Stone" was my pick.
Passenger’s "Sword from the Stone" is a song released in his 2021 album Songs for the Drunk and Broken Hearted, it's more than a song but a message of hope.
It was a song inspired by the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic where people in different world were uncertain about the next minute, with thousands dying almost every second and the struggles people had to pass through just to survive... surviving is winning anyway.
It's a song that gives an iota of hope even amidst the struggles of this world where one minute you're okay, and the next second, .it's as if the world is crumbling on your head...the uncertainty of the world.
Reading about what inspired Michael David Rosenberg popularly known as Passenger to sing this song, I discovered the song was in reference to the King Arthur who pulled a sword from a stone to prove he's worthy to be king.
Now, this was a metaphorical saying which wasn't emphasising on the sword already standing tall, but on the process and challenges it took to pull it out bring it from the stone further signifying that nothing good comes easy but persistence and dedication answers most, if not all questions.
Most times in life, the sacrifices we make to get at a particular level almost feels overwhelming and Insurmountable to us at start often making us to nurture the thoughts of giving up but most times, the joy cometh in the morning they say and finally reaching our goals makes us forget whatever we passed through to get there.
Musically, it's a song with perfect blend of instruments, lyrics, sounds and raw vocals, not as if I was expecting anything less form the musical maestro
Lines like "I'm spinning 'round and I can't stop" is a clear picture of life's struggles making you to lose balance, a state of chaos and instability , like you're caught in a whirlwind and further backs it up with lines like, *"I can't do this alone" acknowledging the importance of seeking support when the challenges becomes too much for you because sometimes, all we need is a little push to get over to the other side of success we so much wanted to be.
Beyond the musical impact, it's a song for anyone who's in deep search for moments that feels like we've given our best and exhausted all our creativity.
It works for me, it's been working for me and I'm sure it'll be a great addition for you when you add it to your playlist.
Thanks for reading and have a nice day ahead đź‘Ť
