December 21st

"Lost all hope, looking for a job at a place my secondary school certificate could fetch me a job to save me from the boredom hitting me at home", this was me 7years ago....

Anniversary is a day that lives rent-free in our heads possibly because of an important event that happened in our life that it keeps going through the calendar cycle with us for as long as we exist that even when we think we have forgotten the date strikes our mind just by looking at the calendar.

7years ago was when I finished my Secondary School Education and wrote numberous exams hoping to be admitted into the University to study my dream course.
I gave my all for all the exams and as luck may have it, I was admitted but that wasn't without a drama.

The first admission list was released and I went through the whole pages of the admission list looking for my name but I didn't see it...
I asked myself series of questions why I wasn't admitted because not only that I did well but my scores were also good enough.

I waited for a second list to be released but nothing was done and the next information I heard from the school was that people that got good score and were still interested to be admitted should go and purchase the "Shopping form" and hope to be admitted in other disciplines.

At first, I didn't want to buy one because I was hell-bent on going for the course of my choice, hence, I was willing to stay one year at home and retake the exams, but, my mum insisted I go and purchase the form which I later did and applied for Combined Biological Science.

Coming back home, I was bored as I was always left home alone staring at the walls all day long and at a point, I decided I needed to get a job to ease the boredom since my siblings have all resumed school in their respective new classes.

Even though I was yet to get a good job, I was just doing some menial jobs with my friend because it was a festive period and we needed some personal cash for the season (for knockouts and the rest of them, hehehe).

On December 19,2017 the school authority announced through their website that they were done with the first supplementary list and will be releasing it on December 21, 2017.
It was a news that came with mixed feelings to me since I wasn't happy I would be going for a course I never knew about prior to the time I was applying for it in the shopping form and I was also happy I would become an undergraduate

Fast forward to December 21,2017, I still wasn't that much interested in the "to-be-released list" so I still went to work with my friend.

On coming back, I decided to check the website and they already released the list for like an hour ago....
I quickly, searched for my name in the Faculty of Combined Biological Sciences but, to my greatest surprise, I didn't see my name.
I was sad as how my high score couldn't even get my a course like that and I was also happy that atleast it didn't work out and I now have a shot to try again aiming at my desired course.

Around 7pm, my elder brother who was in his Final year then called me and told me Congratulations, I was confused as to what brought about the congratulations and he told me I have been admitted into my dream course, Medicine and Surgery.
I doubted it at first because I wasn't expecting it but I also knew my brother won't joke with such a sensitive issue.

I told him I didn't even check there as I wasn't expecting it.... After the call, I immediately went and checked it and lo and behold! My name was there...
I shouted in joy that my dad asked what the problem was and upon hearing the goodnews bought drinks immediately.

Ever since then, I have been looking up to every December 21, when I received the best gift of Christmas, hehehe.

Funny enough, by God's Grace, I will be looking forward to December 21 this year not as an undergraduate anymore but as a Doctor, hehehe.
