Volunteering is an experience that changes the being
Volunteerism is an action of love towards others, it is helping in a detached way to those who need it, donating our effort to collaborate in the cleaning of an area or our time taking care of someone who needs to be cared for.
I believe that there are people who are born with the instinct to help others, but it is also something that can be learned if you want, that is, if you grew up watching some important figure in your family exercising volunteer actions is likely that at some point in your life you want to participate in these social works.
I have had few experiences being a volunteer, but all of them have filled me with emotions that marked my memory, because they moved me and some of them made me cry a lot and feel mixed emotions, sadness, anger, frustration, pain.
Let me explain, years ago I participated in a personal development workshop where one of the tasks was to visit an old people's home, at that time I was younger, to the place they took us the elderly were well cared for, clean and looked cared for but they felt lonely, contrary to what you may think of the elderly who are bitter, these were kind and were so happy to receive company, that day we went only to that, to accompany them, play and talk. Although I did not see anything ugly, I left there with sadness and nostalgia for them.

After some years one of the requirements of the university to qualify for the degree was to do social service, in this case we were volunteers by obligation, but we looked for a place that would need support, and we chose an old people's home that was not public, that is to say organized or subsidized by the government or private. This old people's home was only organized when a group of elderly people invaded a house on the slopes of a hill, and little by little elderly men and women without families, most of them sick and without resources, began to arrive there.
When we arrived I thought I was prepared for what I would see but it was not like that, I wanted to do so many things that I did not know where to start, in the end I grabbed a nail clipper and this was my first work that day, I cut the nails of almost everyone's hands. The group of volunteers was large, about 30 people, we distributed the work and while some were cleaning, others were washing, cooking and so little by little we were taking care of them. We returned many times, once I cut the men's hair and these were my most frequent activities. Fewer and fewer were interested in participating, especially after they got their service hours ready.
The old people were so grateful, some talked, some didn't, a friend brought them a monthly market but they need someone to cook for them, I was one of the last to attend because it was also affecting me emotionally, I was depressed and worried about them.
These have been my volunteer experiences, every time I have lived them I have grown as a person, I have become more aware of the suffering of others, of the pain of abandonment, of getting old in loneliness, I have learned that sometimes a caress or listening to someone attentively can make a difference for that person, I have become more grateful and for some time I have felt the need to join a foundation of help.

I have thought about joining animal foundations because I know I would enjoy it but I am very allergic, one day I met a young woman who left me a nice impression and told me about being a volunteer at the Red Cross, it seems that it is not difficult so thanks to this initiative I will take that step and I will apply to be a volunteer at the Red Cross, I have been doing some research and there are many activities, you learn and do something for others, I know that this will bring me spiritual richness and it is the best way to live, serving, because who does not live to serve, does not serve to live.

Yes, volunteering work is an act of love because if you don’t love people around you there is no how you can help them voluntarily without anyone asking you to do so.
It is an act of love, selfless and generous, even if you don't know the person, you still help them.
Happy day, thanks for commenting.😊😙
Thank you very much for your support 😉🤗
