A historic municipal monument converted into a shopping mall
Greetings,
Dear friends, I hope you are all well, always looking forward to the community even though I can't bring you good content.
One of the things is that I have few buildings left in my city to bring you and those that remain are located in high traffic areas and avenues so I find it very difficult to take good photos of the facades.
In this opportunity I will show and talk a little of the house of the Marques del Toro, today is a private property, many years ago I had the joy of knowing the owner was a client of my dad in his workshop, how this property monument of the city came to his hands I ignore it but I think it is the result of the bureaucracy of the country.
The house that today is a shopping center at least the external walls are original and dates. Of the eighteenth century where I will quote what it says the reference plate that is next to the front door.
This house was the property of the illustrious independence hero. It was the residence of the Canarian doctor Juan Perdomo Betancourt, introducer of the valuation in Venezuela and having of major Justice of the valleys of Aragua at the end of the XVIII century. It received the visit of the Baron Alejandro de Humboldt, on February 12, 1800 served as headquarters of the federal executive of the first republic and headquarters of the patriot army from here commanded the generalissimo Francisco de Miranda the first battle of the Victory on June 20, 1812. It was a house of commerce and home of honorable Victorian families, it was declared a municipal monument by the mayor and historian German Fleitas Núñez.
It is a very large house occupies a space of about 100 meters in front and back and depth of about 200mts, has access to 2 main avenues of the city such as Avenida Ribas Davila and Paez Avenue, on its side has access to Candelaria Street which until the mid-1950s was one of the busiest streets of the city.
As you can appreciate the facade is original of its time despite having current businesses operating in it, the walls are made of clay bricks and mud, the roof of wood, there are certain cut inside the mall where the bare walls show to appreciate the construction of the time.
The interior was well used if you damage the style of construction as was the large internal courtyards and rooms that are now local to the sides.
In the inner courtyard there is a very important detail and it is a fountain with a virgin that is part of the original decoration of the house.
In the center of the house there is a modern construction of its last remodeling and it is already of reinforced concrete and iron that expanded the shopping center with upper floors but with a well elaborated design on the part of the architect that is not noticeable from the outside.
There are some parts more cared for than others because of the economic situation we are going through and the abuse in the collection of taxes in the municipality every day there are fewer stores but as the song says "There is no evil that lasts 100 years or body that resists it" and this shopping center to be a single owner depends on leasing to keep it in good condition.
And finally I can not fail to show you the images of some doors that are part of the side facade and are access to some premises that overlooked the streets.
Well friends without more to contribute only that despite being a private property the restoration was in charge of a very good architect who knew how to preserve the heritage and also give it a modern utility as it is a shopping center, I hope to see it flourish economically someday.
Thank you for joining me on this visit and I hope you enjoy it, we will keep in touch with you in the comments box.
We'll be in the comments box.
The photos are of my property taken with the Infinix Hot 10 i cell phone.

Thanks
Hi @soychalbed, the design of the house is beautiful, I like this kind of constructions for their historical value and decorative details, the interior design is beautiful, the restoration looked great, the color of the parents is striking.
Greetings!
It is a pity that such a monument is allowed to be private.
What a beautiful house, I love your post, I'm from Valencia, Venezuela.
Ollé how good you are close this is in La Victoria Aragua
The house, it's design and plants make for a perfect combo.
Such historic property inspires pride
That is correct
It is interesting to see that it is still preserved and is very nice, good sample of the wall to appreciate how it was in detail to build in those times. It is a beautiful historic property.😀
Without a doubt, although the friend is preserved, she is barely functioning.
