Intro

Hello there, Hivers and Game Lovers,

Welcome to the blog of @southgamer where I talk about my gaming experience and anything game-related. Since it happens to be the weekend and during the weekend is when I finally have more time to game. Today I checked out Splinterlands once again as my adventure of exploring Hive games continues.

In the past I have played the game and this game is how I came to find out about Hive. When I was playing for the first time, I didn't get to understand much about the game as I only watched the intro video you get to see when you log into the splinterlands site. Back then, I did not know there was a campaign mode in the game where you get to the maige school and you will be taught how to play the strategy game from scratch.

I came across this campaign mode when I tried to play a ranked match and I could not since I have no cards to battle with. After being told this informmation, I was given the option to participate in the campaign and get to claim certain cards as rewards for my training.

The Journey begins

Your splinterlands campaign journey officially begins when you get to the maige school with your tour guide and kind off your friend, Fizzlebit. Although while on the journey to the school of magic, you guys get ambushed by a bear which happens to be your first tutorial battle.

Trust me the stages of the campaign journey are easy and straightforward to understand as long as you pay attention to the instructions and write ups.

When you get cards

At first you do not get cards but as you move forward down the chapter, each practice comes with cards that can be used to battle. Ideally what makes this campaign mode work for newbies like myself are these systematic breaking down of the content into chapters, where each chapter talks about how to get better at the game.

Things begin to get serious on the battle ground when I encounter my tour guide and friend Fizzlebit in a match. As it turns out it is time to duel with the person who brought me to the academy.

It was nice to get some accolade from my teacher for defeating Fizzlebit. Although the match was quite simple due to how Fizzlebit arranged his melee, attackers and rangers, all placed poorly. Well, that what you learn when you attend the maige school of magic.

Stuck

Currently, I am stuck in a duel against Gertrude Chompsbury who is quite a formidible beast I will surely take down soon. Despite a four defeat loss to Maul Bloodgore, I was finally able to defeat him on the fifth try when I decoded his card strategy boils down to using cards with speed which I countered with cards with the ability to take one heart (life in the game).

So surely I will deal with Gertrude Chompsbury soon enough. For now I will keep trying and training.
