8th Place - Saturday Hivechess Tournament

Although Friday's event was tough for me to perform better but it wasn't all bad for me in Saturday's event. I played a bit better than usual. Lately, chess is getting tough but I keep going.

Huge congratulations to the winners of the event. It wasn't an easy one so every win counts.

I finished in 8th place with 18 points and I am glad for that. Played 12 games, won 6, and lost the remaining 6 games. It was 5 5-minute controls so I could go all out in berserk mode I gained more points, hence the 100% berserk rate.

My rating has dropped due to numerous losses collected in the past and in this event as well. I lost to all the stronger players rated 1900 and above. I tried berserking them hoping to grab a quick point on the but that wasn't the case. Instead, they defended well and attacked with precision as well, making it hard for me to grab the point, rather more losses.

This game against Migmag was even at a certain point in the middle game but when black became passive with their play, it made it easy for me to drive in with knight attack, and after a few repositionings of my knight to a better square, I finally got a strong fork on the black king and its rook. At this point, the position continued to crumble and it was easy to gain the win in this one.

In this game against Rosmarly, she countered me on my weaknesses in the position with my weak open diagonal where unfortunately for me my queen was also placed in that direction. She found the winning move even after missing it the first time. It was poor on my part for not decoding threats rather I was busy playing fast because I berserked. In due time she kept adding more pressure to the position and when time was no longer on my side, I cracked and made more bad moves aside from the previous ones already made in the past. I was wrapped up and defeated accordingly in this game.

I got a lucky escape in this round by finishing in the top 10 spot. Hopefully, we do better in the next round of the tournament as usual. Shoutout to the host @sam.chess for organizing this tournament. See you all in the next round.
