At the International Airport EL DORADO | Bogotá - Colombia

Greetings friends of Hive and the community Architecture+Design. Last year I had the opportunity to visit the Luis Carlos Galan Sarmiento El Dorado International Airport in Bogota, the capital of Colombia. I had never been to Bogota either, that was my first visit to the Colombian capital and well I had only seen this air terminal on television in the program Alerta Aeropuerto :)

Well, watching that program for entertainment left me with useful information because I learned that El Dorado airport is the most important airport in Colombia and one of the most important in America and the world for matters related to its location in the continent and the truth is that many people pass through there from all over the world. It was exciting to be in that airport that I liked very much for its architectural aesthetics, starting with the facade that is made of glass, all glazed. Well yes, I liked the facade they designed, I liked the windows, that is talking about the aesthetics on the outside, but inside I really liked the view you get through the different levels of the airport.

The emblematic sign with the main name of the airport stands out because it is precisely golden and also stands out for the size, the location, the design of each letter that makes up the name of the airport, which is also called Luis Carlos Galán Sarmiento, name of a murdered politician that I happen to know and it is because of a movie I saw. The name of the Colombian politician is written on another sign below the big golden sign but the airport is popularly known as El Dorado airport and that is its popular name.

Saludos amigos de Hive y de la comunidad Architecture+Design. El año pasado tuve la oportunidad de conocer el Aeropuerto Internacional El Dorado Luis Carlos Galán Sarmiento que está en Bogotá, la capital de Colombia. Tampoco había ido nunca a Bogotá, esa fue mi primera visita a la capital colombiana y bueno yo solo había visto esta terminal aérea por televisión en el programa Alerta Aeropuerto :)

Bueno, ver ese programa por entretenimiento me dejó información útil porque aprendí que el aeropuerto El Dorado es el más importante de Colombia y uno de los más importantes de América y el mundo por asuntos relacionados a su ubicación en el continente y la verdad es que pasa mucha gente por allí de todas partes del mundo. Fue emocionante estar en ese aeropuerto que me gustó mucho por su estética arquitectónica, empezando por la fachada que es de vidrio, acristalada toda. Pues sí, me gustó la fachada que diseñaron, me gustó los ventanales, eso es hablando de lo estético por fuera, pero por dentro me gustó mucho la vista que se obtiene por los diferentes niveles del aeropuerto.

El emblemático letrero con el nombre principal que tiene el aeropuerto resalta porque es precisamente de color dorado y también resalta por el tamaño, la ubicación, el diseño de cada letra que compone el nombre del aeropuerto que también se llama Luis Carlos Galán Sarmiento, nombre de un político asesinado que por casualidad conozco y es por una película que vi. El nombre del político colombiano aparece escrito en otro letrero debajo del gran letrero dorado pero pues el aeropuerto se conoce popularmente como el aeropuerto El Dorado y ese es su nombre popular.

The airport has two levels and a very attractive main building with the shape of the letter h, but you can see its shape is from an aerial view and too bad I could not take a picture so it would have been too good to see it from above, but if I could take some pictures of its exterior when I arrived at the airport so you can see part of the magnitude and beauty of this architectural work.

El aeropuerto tiene dos niveles y un edificio principal muy atractivo con la forma de la letra h, pero se puede ver su forma es desde una vista aérea y lástima que no pude tomar una foto así pues hubiera sido demasiado bueno verlo desde arriba, pero si pude tomar algunas fotos de su exterior cuando llegué al aeropuerto para que puedan ver parte de la magnitud y belleza de esta obra arquitectónica.

I was able to learn that this is an old airport, actually it is almost 70 years old but it has undergone many aesthetic treatments and that's why it looks great :) It has undergone many expansions and continues to undergo constant remodeling to improve and modernize its function considering the traffic of so many people and vehicles that pass through this airport.

Pude conocer que este es un aeropuerto antiguo, realmente tiene casi 70 años pero le han hecho muchos tratamientos estéticos y por eso luce muy bien :) Ha pasado por muchas ampliaciones y sigue en constantes remodelaciones que lo actualizan para mejorar y modernizar su función considerando el tránsito de tantas personas y vehículos que pasan por este aeropuerto.

In spite of the crowds I noticed the tidy appearance, very clean and I say it again, aesthetically I really liked the El Dorado airport. Inside I noticed the atmosphere decorated with golden hues and ocher colors very appropriate for an airport that owes its name to the golden inspiration of the legend of El Dorado.

A pesar de la muchedumbre me fijo en la apariencia ordenada, muy limpia y lo digo otra vez, estéticamente me ha gustado mucho el aeropuerto El Dorado. Por dentro me fije en el ambiente decorado con matices dorados y colores ocres muy apropiados para un aeropuerto que debe su nombre a la isnpiración dorada de la leyenda de El Dorado.

I found it curious that the doors have a numerical sequence that can be confusing in their order, for example, the main arrival door is number 9 and for me it should be number 1 :) Well, but what I understood is that upstairs on the second level is where people arrive at the airport and downstairs is where they leave. I as I was arriving I took pictures at the top level, I hope I'm not confused :) It would be a shame to make a mistake here explaining to you because when you arrive in the car you think you are on the main street or what you think is the only street and it turns out that below you there is another level where there is another street for cars and buses of people leaving the airport, I understood that when I entered the airport because when I arrive I only find myself and I see the level 2 or higher of this majestic work of glass walls.

Me pareció curioso que las puertas tienen una secuencia numérica que puede ser confusa en su orden, por ejemplo, la puerta principal de llegada es el número 9 y para mí debería ser el número 1 :) Bueno, pero lo que entendí es que arriba en el segundo nivel es por donde llegan las personas al aeropuerto y en el nivel de abajo es por donde salen. Yo como estaba llegando tomé fotos al nivel superior, espero no estar confundido :) Sería una verguenza equivocarme aquí explicandoles a ustedes porque es que cuando llegas en el carro tu crees que estas en la calle principal o la que crees que es la única calle y resulta que debajo de ti hay otro nivel donde hay otra calle para los carros y los buses de la gente que sale del aeropuerto, eso lo entendí cuando entré al aeropuerto porque al llegar solo me encuentro y veo el nivel 2 o superior de esta obra majestuosa de paredes acristaladas.

When you enter the airport you can see through the windows the two levels of the airport, you can see the cars, cabs and buses to serve people arriving and departing from the airport. It is quite interesting and it looks cool because you are inside and you see the different heights, everything well organized and very well distributed with lots of glass that allow you to have a good view and natural lighting.

Cuando entras al aeropuerto es que puedes ver por los ventanales los dos niveles del aeropuerto, se ven los carros, los taxis y los buses para servir a la gente que llega y que sale del aeropuerto. Es bastante interesante y se ve chévere porque tú estás adentro y ves las diferentes alturas, todo bien organizado y muy bien distribuido con mucho cristal que permiten tener buena vista y la iluminación natural.

Well, as I had never been in an international airport of the importance of El Dorado, I highlight what caught my attention and the truth is that I was amazed by the levels and heights seen from inside the airport and also by the glass facade, aesthetically I really liked the El Dorado airport.

Bueno, como yo nunca había estado en un aeropuerto internacional de la importancia de El Dorado por eso resalto lo que más me llamó la atención y la verdad es que yo estaba maravillado por los niveles y sus alturas vistas desde el interior del aeropuerto y también por la fachada acristalada, estéticamente me gustó mucho el aeropuerto El Dorado.

The truth is that this is what I found so cool about El Dorado airport, the different levels and the facade and that's why I kept myself busy looking and taking pictures because there was a delay with the flight :)

La verdad que eso fue lo que me pareció chévere del aeropuerto El Dorado, lo de los diferentes niveles que tiene y la fachada y por eso me entretuve viendo y tomando fotos porque hubo retraso con el vuelo :)
