RE: PC World (January 2003)

2003 was the year I've built my previous PC. Asus Motherboard, P4, 1,5GB RAM. I used it until 2013, upgrading just the graphic card in 2011.

My last pre-built system was a Pentium II based machine from Gateway. My first build was with a Duron and then the Athlon XP. Every system I've ever built has been AMD based except one (a Broadwell era Intel build). I sure liked those hyperthreaded Pentium 4s when they came along though.
Until now, I've never ever acquired a pre-built desktop, I've built mine starting from 1995 (486DX2-66) onwards. Of course, being broke was a strong incentive to build over buy ... The current desktop I'm typing this message on I've built back in 2013, it's an i3 from that era ... still doing what I expect it to do ... the only thing I did that was highly unusual back in 2013 and was impossible to find in a similar price range ten years ago was to equip it with 16 GB of RAM ... However, I grew old and I think the next desktop I'll buy pre-built ... I fell victim to the "too old for this sh*t" syndrome ... 😄
I still like building my own PCs, the problem is I just don't need a new one. The last one I built was a Ryzen circa 2017 or 2018.
