The cry of Dorothy 🩸

**Long, long ago, in a community called Ebo, there lived an old woman named Kiki. Kiki is said to be a lonely woman whom the community people feared and ran away from.

Despite how busy the community is because of the trades and the day-to-day activities, the community seems to stand still in terror whenever the old lady Kiki walks by. I wonder about the mystery behind the old lady Kiki.At the riverbank where children often go to play and swim, lived Dora and her twin sister Dorothy. They were both identical; both girls were very beautiful. Dora and Dorothy were the only children of a happy farmer, Gaba.

They happened to have lost their mother during childbirth, and their father, single-handedly raised them. It was not easy for Gaba, especially as he was always busy on the farm , Gaba the farmer, as he was popularly called by the villagers, was the richest farmer in the community. With all the wealth he acquired, it didn't make him proud and arrogant; instead, he did a daily giveaway to the villagers. He made giving to the villagers a daily routine for him. According to him, "givers never lack."
The community of Ebo seemed very peaceful until Gaba died.Tears of grief echoed from the streets of Ebo community.

After the death of Gaba, Dora and Dorothy were still in grief and shock from the death of their father. Though they were sad, they had to keep their father's farm running and even gave to the villagers from the farm just like they did before their father's death. At nightfall, Dora and Dorothy retired from the day's work and went home to rest. But they couldn't sleep because of the loud noise coming from the market square. The noise grew nearer every second until it got close to their hut and surrounded it, so they went out to check.
"Witches!" the villagers shouted. "First they killed their mother; now they have killed our beloved Gaba. They are both witches; we must burn them alive!" With fear and without any second thoughts, the twins ran for their lives. The villagers proceeded and burned down their house. The girls ran, and some of the villagers pursued after them.

Suddenly, just like an invincible force, they were dragged and teleported into the old lady Kiki's hut. They were both about to scream, but they couldn't; it was as if their voices were seized. It was so scary, but it was better than being killed by those angry villagers. Feeling exhausted, Dora and Dorothy finally fell asleep, holding each other tightly.

At the break of dawn, the community was once again filled with people selling food, with birds chirping in the surrounding trees close to old lady Kiki's hut. Dora opened her eyes; she thought that she was dreaming, as the atmosphere was strange. They were in a hut full of skulls—human skulls and candles. She could perceive burning incense and herbs, then she suddenly remembered all that had happened the previous night, so it wasn't a dream, she whispered. She hurriedly woke her sister Dorothy up. Dorothy was sleeping soundly on the floor of old lady Kiki's hut. When Dorothy finally woke up, she was horrified by the state of the hut. which could make you choke.

They were both terrified when finally the old lady Kiki stepped into the light.... Dora and Dorothy were both shocked for they had heard stories of the old lady Kiki and how ruthless and ugly she was...

Standing in front of them was a young lady whose face was as fragile as glass; she looked more like a goddess, and she moved so gracefully towards them. 'Do not be afraid, children, you are safe now...' Still in shock, Dora asked in disbelief, 'How is this possible? I am Kikirai, I am the guardian of the Ebo forest. I was cursed by the land to be here in this hut for the rest of my life... that way I will be able to protect the villagers and all the living things in the forest. Whenever I go out, I turn into a monster, so the villagers feared and ran away from me. 'Why were you cursed?' asked Dorothy. ... 'You see, we goddesses are not supposed to have anything to do with humans. It was never like this for me; I was free to walk around and talk with humans. Eventually i fell in love with a human. But unfortunately, I got pregnant, which was forbidden in my own world. My powers were seized during my pregnancy, which made me mortal and prone to harm. I bled and felt pain like a human, although I was happy, unfortunately, on my delivery day, after I delivered safely, but i died and since I couldn't go back to my world until I accomplished the mission that I was given, which was to protect the Ebo community, I was given my powers and brought to this hut. As punishment for my disobedience, they caged me here in this hut. For years, I have been in this hut. In here, I learnt alot magic and made potions to help me recover and become stronger. My wish is to someday be reunited with my true love and my twin daughters again. Dora's eyes widened as she asked the name of Kikirea's lover. Kikirea was a bit hesitant about telling Dora the name of the man she loves, but seeing how curious Dora and Dorothy were, she reluctantly whispered the name Gaba. With tears in their eyes , they told Kikirea that Gaba was their father and that he died mysteriously. Now the villagers are after them, accusing them of killing both their parents. Learning that Gaba, her true love, was dead, she went silent, then angrily said, 'With Gaba's death, I do not know why I am still breathing. After everything, after all my sacrifices to this land, I have lost my love. As she spoke, the atmosphere suddenly changed. Outside the hut became dark; the thunder roared loudly, and lightning struck every tree in its path. All the villagers sought refuge. As every second passed, the rain increased. Soon, the whole village was flooded with water.

The once happy village was now lamenting and crying for help. With no pity in her heart, Kikirea stormed outside her hut, turning into the old lady Kiki, and headed towards the village.
Some villagers were already on the roof of their houses, while some of them climbed into the trees for fear of getting drowned. The more furious she became, the more powerful she was, and the flood grew larger. Yes, they had been hurt by the villagers, but the twins pitied them now. It was so disheartening that the village they once cherished was now being destroyed by their own mother. It was a disaster no one had planned for. Kikirea walked through the waters; as she walked, the waters parted. The twin followed her, begging her to stop. It was as if Kikirea shielded herself from the world "You cannot stop a woman with a broken heart". For fear of everyone dying, Dorothy ran towards her mother and hugged her tightly without thinking twice. Though she was part mortal, she wasn't as strong as her mother Kikirea.

She gripped her mother tightly for her to stop the flood and calm down. Looking around at the villagers and her twin sister, Dorothy removed the bracelet her father gave her for protection. Suddenly, energy emerged from her body, making the earth shake and causing an earthquake. The waters began to dry up into the broken earth, and Dorothy's flesh began peeling off. Her mother became normal; Dora could do nothing but cry at the loss of her only sister, Dorothy. Dorothy ended up risking her life for the village. I guess she didn't just do it for the villagers but for her father, who taught her to be kind.
Kikirea was free from her curse and was free to love. Kikirea and Dora became the Goddesses of the village.

THE END❤️
