Ban or balance???

Our world of today literally bases and revolves around social media. Adults and teenagers as well as children of very tender ages have been successfully woven into the online world, all flowing with the rhythm.

Ranging from the corner of Facebook to that of Instagram, Tiktok, YouTube, X, WhatsApp and the rest that I might not even be aware of their existence, each having millions of users in its grasp. They are quite unlimited, available and accessible, spanning both in the form of apps and websites.

What I know, or perhaps thought I knew, to be the purpose of social media is entertainment, communication and information but over the years, these has taken the backseat, waved aside and the whole journey has taken a U-turn.

It has been one hell of a rollercoaster as the media diverted from its initial purpose to all forms of coded and well-structured atrocities.
Nowadays, we see people spreading false information and spamming links all over the place, individuals showcasing their naked bodies in the name of dancing and video creation.

Let's not forget the heavy effect and pressure of comparison an individual feels after spending hours scrolling through that popular trend or celebrity's page, drowning in the desire to own a similar jewellery, handbag, designer clothes and shoes or that sleek human hair which seems to be calling out to him or her.

Funny enough, most of the online celebrities present nothing but fake, packaged lives to the viewers. Anyways, the goal is go viral and be regarded with a level of respect.

Nevertheless, people spend a good amount of their time that would have led to a pretty good productive outcome scrolling, liking, following, commenting, reposting and saving videos they come across on social media. And these can be done in all the media apps.

Based on that, I can't point out a specific media app that I would choose to ban, which will reduce its effect in the lives of humans as there are lots of alternatives people can always run to if anything goes wrong with one.

Afterall, a lot of people tend to live for the social media and for that, make it a must to post a certain video of theirs on their various accounts in all existing media.

So if you don't get to see it here, you can go over there.

A lot of people argue that tiktok is the most prevalent while the likes of Facebook has faded into the background but then, tiktok is not the only media being put into use neither is Facebook inactive. Just take a peek and you will see just how much people still post and engage there within a matter of seconds.

Looking at the bigger picture, it's the same media that earns a living for some people through advertisement of their products so banning isn't an option.
The focus should be on the acts aired on the media. I once heard that tiktok moderators usually scour for indecent videos and places a ban on the user's account which I found quite impressive but as it stands, I doubt if such thoughtful approach is still in motion.

On the other hand, self-discipline will go a long way in putting an end to the excessive usage of the media cause at the end of the day, it all boils down to the fact that the cons of the media steams from the rate in which humans bury themselves in the online world.
So plainly speaking, what we need is a balance, not ban!

The media as a whole present a lot of unwelcome content. And the need for a regulation is more than ever.
I think the issue many have with TikTok is because of how unrestricted it is. Most of the improper contents pushed today comes from there. This is because it offers a cheaper and quicker path to fame, recognition, money and the rest.
Not taking it away from other media platforms too. I think they should as a whole do well to restrict some content and disable accounts that put out such content.

Yhh I think so too though there was a time when the moderators were looking out for indecent content and placing a ban on the account but that doesn't happen anymore 😞.
Tiktok also happens to be the go-to app for a good percentage of humans, the most popular and used among all.

Eggxactly my point 👍..... Thanks for popping in bro .

They all have their positive and negative the best thing is just to use it positively and to your best advantage, all the media is the same.

Eggxactly...... Every coin has two sides afterall. It's left for us to harness its importance and thoroughly tackle the cons.
